My entire night was spent in my bed of course, with the drapes pulled around me as I stared up blankly toward the ceiling. I didn't cry. I wouldn't cry. Not for something this silly anyways; a boy, basically. Even if that boy was my lifelong bestfriend who I had eventually grown to love. Something just snapped in that moment. He used my father against me. Part of me blamed the necklace for my anger, but the other part thought it was actually justified. When he fired back at me with that not right business, it hurt. I knew what I was supporting and I knew who I supporting: my father. I never thought of him as something not right, even though I knew he technically wasn't. I always knew he was the most feared and evil dark wizard known, and I was proud of that. There would be a time when I would even become that. But right now, Buckbeak was being punished, not for threatening my father and I's power, but for defending himself. And for as long as I could, I was going to at least try to stand up for what was right... for now.
I was still staring up at the ceiling. I had wanted to close my eyes for the past hour, but they wouldn't. Before I knew it, I could see the slight brightness from a crack in between my two drapes signaling the sun had came up. Then I heard the shuffling and whispering.
"S-Sierra?" Airam asked quietly. I heard her feet pad across the room to my bed and I rubbed my tired face. When I removed my hand, I could see the shadow of three people around my bed. "You're still coming to the Quidditch Final, right?"
I sighed and my eyes finally closed, but it wasn't for sleep. As much as I wanted to stay in my bed all day, hidden by my beloved drapes, I knew I couldn't. Everyone would see how weak I was being over an argument.
"Yeah," I said finally. It hurt my throat to say it and came out more like a hoarse whisper.
The drapes around my bed opened slowly, revealing Airam, Jalen, and surprisingly, a concerned looking Pansy. My eyes narrowed when they landed on her, immediately internally demanding what she was probably thinking. She was probably happy.
"Alright, then. Come on, we need to get ready," Airam said, grabbing my hand and pulling me up slowly, as if I were fragile. I sat up quickly at the thought and they all flinched in alarm.
I cleared my throat awkwardly. "Er—I'm alright," I clarified, trying to steady my voice as I stood up and grabbed my wand off my bedside table. I felt like I was going to fall over any minute as I hastily stumbled my way over to the restroom.
I literally gasped as I spotted myself in the mirror. The most noticeable thing about me were my eyes. They weren't even tingling, yet they were red. Then I took in the rest of my appearance. "Gross," I muttered. The skin underneath my eye looked dark, my lips no longer held their usual natural light pink, and my skin looked even paler than Draco's. Draco...
I shook my head as I tried to untangle the nest that was my hair and then splashed water onto my face, trying to slap my cheeks lightly, but doing it too hard and leaving a small red blotch on it. Then I rubbed lip balm on my pale lips and then grabbed a beanie, thrusting it onto my head so no one would see that it looked as lifeless as I felt. Once I had successfully pulled my robes over my head, leaving my sweatpants and t-shirt underneath, I threw the bathroom door open and waltzed out, trying to void myself of emotions.
Jalen smiled sadly at me before she went past me and into the restroom. My red eyes locked onto Pansy from where she stood analyzing me, leaning on the bedpost of my bed. "You look pretty good for someone who just lost the hottest boy in school over a Hippogriff," she said simply with a shrug.
"Thanks for saying I look good," I droned as I made my way to my trunk and threw it open, digging around for some lotion for my chapped hands.
"You know, Sierra," Pansy continued, taking a timid step closer to me. I slowly turned my head to look at her and I heard Airam shift on her bed.
"What?" I asked, straightening up so she didn't appear any taller than me than she was.
"I think we should try being friends."
I sucked in a breath and I could see Airam's jaw drop from where she sat ten feet away. I stared incredulously at the girl in front of me, who I had been bickering with since the second we first laid eyes on each other. "Friends?" I choked out finally.
"Yeah," she said, smiling cheekily at me as I took a cautious step away from her. Maybe she had finally gone insane. "I mean, you just lost Draco—"
Did she really have to keep saying that?
"—and you look like you could use another friend. We also share the same room so there's really no use in us fighting."
I couldn't stop staring at her with wide eyes and Airam seemed unable to close her mouth. Part of me was screaming that Pansy was up to something; not to trust her, but the other part was scolding me to say something and be done with the weirdness.
"Er—okay then," I said, shifting on the heels of my feet. "I guess there's no harm—"
"Great!" Pansy squealed, making me jump. Airam almost tumbled off of her bed. "We're friends then!"
I took an audible breath as Pansy suddenly threw her arms around me and hugged me to her tightly. I looked at Airam desperately over the suddenly friendly girls shoulder and she shrugged, putting her hands up and shaking her head. I chuckled awkwardly before softly patting Pansy's back.
The bathroom door opened and Jalen emerged. When she saw Pansy hugging me, she ripped out her wand. "I'll save you, Sierra!" she screamed.
Pansy screamed and removed herself from me as Jalen pointed her wand at her and I hurriedly said, "No, no, no!"
Jalen stopped and slowly lowered her wand. Pansy gasped dramatically from where she was now crouched beside my feet. She shot back up. "Were you about to curse me?" she exclaimed with a hand over her heart. "Sierra and I are friends now!"
Jalen cocked her head to the side as Airam laughed so hard she actually did tumble off her bed this time. My red-haired friend looked over at me for confirmation and I nodded, giggling as Airam tried to pull her hysterical self back up onto her bed.
"Well that's something I never thought I'd hear," Jalen said as she stowed her wand into her robes.
"And I'm also friends with you two," Pansy declared, causing Jalen to quickly scurry away from her, "so Airam, let's go change!"
Pansy grabbed onto Airam's wrist and pulled her to her feet and she stopped laughing suddenly as Pansy dashed into the restroom, pulling her along. The door slammed and I could still hear Pansy talking excitedly.
I looked over at Jalen as she eyed me in amusement. "Friendly now, isn't she?"
Vote if you liked it :) Do you believe Pansy is really just tired of all the fighting?
