Saved

We were all still alive...surprisingly. Harry had gone back in time with the use of Hermione's Time Turner to save both Sirius and Buckbeak (who hadn't been killed because they saved him), and Harry's other self had saved all of us from the Dementors...including Harry...? It was wild, but Hermione had to tell Ron and I the story since we didn't go with them.

Draco, of course, was not happy at all about the Buckbeak situation, as Snape wasn't with the Sirius situation for some unknown reason. Lupin had also quit his job, his excuse being now that everyone knew he was a Werewolf, no one would want their kids to come to school here.

"I can't believe that stupid chicken escaped! Surely that oaf set him free!" Draco complained. I was right across from him, since after my recovery from the Dementors, Blaise, Theodore, Crabbe, and Goyle had all insisted I sit with them along with Airam and Jalen. Draco hadn't said anything on the subject, but I would catch him staring at me worriedly from time to time. Even though my entire head no longer needed to be covered with a cloth, I had to keep one large band-aid on the top of my head.

"I just can't believe Sirius Black escaped again," Jalen muttered, stabbing her sausage roughly.

"I can't either," I said quietly, fighting to hold back my smile.

The last day of term arrived, and Draco and I still weren't on great speaking terms. He had asked me how my "annoying" head felt once, which I replied with a "fine, now move", but other than that, I would only glance at him and he would slightly glower at me and then his face would mollify after a second. My eyes still remained red, which I honestly hated since everyone I didn't know looked at me like some mad person.

I didn't know how I was going to last the entire summer without talking to him. I already missed him like crazy, but my pride and continuous anger wouldn't let me make up with him. I still hadn't taken off the 'forever' ring he had given me for Christmas, and I could still see it glinting around his finger as well. I knew Lucius and Narcissa would try to get us to make up, and I wasn't really prepared for it. Speaking of Lucius, I was prepared to have a very heated conversation about the whole Buckbeak matter. Just the thought of it made me shove my robes into my trunk more aggressively as I packed.

"You will write to us this summer, won't you, Sierra?" Airam asked as she carefully packed her black lipstick she hardly wore and her lotion into her trunk.

"As I do every summer," I replied with a sly smile over in her direction.

"You'll write to me too, right?" Pansy asked as she came out of the restroom, five bottles of shampoo in her arms. "You know, since we're friends now."

"Er—yeah, you too, Pansy," I said slowly, turning back to my trunk.

"Good because I want to hear all about your summer. Don't forget to update us on the Draco thing."

Jalen raised her eyebrows at her from where she sat on top of her trunk with her arms crossed. We had all thought Pansy's new found determination to be friends with me was a bit weird, especially Jalen; she didn't trust her one bit. Neither did I, but while the majority of me thought she was up to something, the other part thought she was just sick of all the bickering.

I slammed my trunk closed and grabbed Night's empty cage. "Ready everyone?"

We all heaved our belongings out the door and into the common room, which was full of people chatting with their stuff in hand. I spotted Daniels standing alone up against a wall and he left his trunk quickly and hurried up to me.

"Exciting year, Riddle?" he asked. He tapped the side of my head where I still had a bandage, smirk etched on his handsome face.

"Pretty eventful," I replied smoothly. "The detentions were the highlight of my year I think." I smiled slyly at him and he gasped.

"What you did to me last time was not funny," he scolded playfully and I cocked my head to the side, the playful grin still on my face.

"What?"

"You know."

"Re-enlighten me," I said.

He sighed dramatically. "You poured the mop water over my head!"

Pansy cackle right beside me while Airam and Jalen laughed loudly. I giggled and reached up onto my tip-toes to ruffle his dark hair. "It was very funny."

"Was not," he said flatly, but I could see the corners of his lips twitch upward. "See you around, eh, Riddle? And write to me or I'm going over to Malfoy Manor, even if that Draco bloke tries to stop me." He winked before he was gone, and my cheeks burned as I picked up my trunk again and began to heave it to the common room exit.

"Moving on fairly quickly, I see?" Pansy asked beside me as Airam and Jalen giggled about how cute Daniels was.

"What do you mean?" I asked her as we traveled through the dungeons along with several other Slytherins.

"I mean, we all know you were crushing on Draco."

"I wasn't. I think that was you," I said bluntly.

"Let's not fight."

"I wasn't trying to," I responded with a shrug.

We arrived at the main entrance, where people from all houses were dropping their trunks. I gasped as someone collided into me and made me drop all my things. I saw the flash of red hair, and wrapped my arms around that person, recognizing who they were. "Ginny!"

"I'm going to miss you," she said, her arms still wrapped tightly around me. I squeezed her lightly.

"I'll miss you too," I said as she pulled away. Even though I still felt guilty every time I looked into her warm eyes, I couldn't help but love being around her.

"Do you think they would let you come to the house?" she asked hopefully. I scratched the back of my neck, knowing it would be really difficult to convince Lucius and Narcissa to let me go to Ron's house, probably even impossible...

"I don't know. I'll have to ask," I said.

"Oh, okay—well, write to me," she said.

I smiled. "I will." Then she was gone.

"God, if we stop and talk to all of your friends, we'll never get to the train," Pansy grumbled.

We took the carriage to Hogsmead, where the Hogwarts Express awaited. Airam, Jalen, Pansy, and I searched the train for a compartment, and when my eyes landed on the blonde boy sitting in one of them, I pretended I didn't see and tried to walk past it. Pansy grabbed onto my arm as she hurled the door open and shoved me in. Despite our new friendship, I shrugged her off and glowered at her as Airam and Jalen entered in after us.

I felt Draco's eyes on me as I took a seat beside Theodore, who wrapped his arm around me and rubbed the top of my head where my band-aid was. Pansy plopped down right beside Draco and wrapped her arms around him, smiling up at him happily.

During the train ride, while I was busy talking with everyone minus Draco and Pansy, I would briefly glance in their direction to see Pansy whispering into his ear, Draco's face hard in concentration.

I sighed as I leaned back into Theodore. This was going to be a long summer...
