The encounter that had happened with Draco about a month ago had put an end to all of our arguing. It also allowed my eyes to return to their natural warm brown, which Draco was pretty cocky about. Lucius and Narcissa still didn't know that Draco had kidnapped, me, or what Pansy had told him, so they didn't have any idea why we had stopped fighting, but were beyond pleased.
The warm sunlight poured through my window, hitting my face and causing me to groan and roll over. Suddenly there was a bang and Nagini snapped her jaw in alarm. I squealed and sat up quickly. I looked over at her to see she was still curled up in her sleeping position beside me, taking up the majority of my bed, but her head was up in alert as she stared at the window, hissing lowly.
"What is it?" I flung the covers off of me and slowly crept up to the window. I narrowed my brown eyes, seeing nothing there but blue sky. I let out a shriek of surprise when a grey owl suddenly popped up in front of my face, blinking its grey eyes. I placed my hand over my heart, taking in a deep breath before squinted at the leg of the owl, where a letter was attached. I could faintly make out the name Sierra Riddle.
I unlocked my window and looked back at Nagini. "This isn't food, okay?"
She responded simply with a hiss stating she understood before she lowered her head again. I opened the window and stepped out of the way, offering for the owl to fly in. All he did was hop up onto the window sill and blink his eyes at me.
"Come on. You can come in," I offered, gesturing to Night's perch which held a small water and food bowl beside his empty cage.
The owl turned his head to Nagini before looking back at me, and I sighed. "Suit yourself, then." He stuck his leg out to me and I untied the letter from him carefully, opening the seal and unfolding the parchment within.
Dear Sierra,
My dad just got tickets to the Quidditch World Cup, and it would be really cool if you could come. Mum and dad really want you to, too. Harry is also coming with us—and Hermione too, and Ginny and Fred and George and you know, everyone. Dad managed to get us seat in the Top Box! So there will be tons of important witches and wizards there. SO it would be wicked if you could come. Write me as soon as you've gotten your answer.
Miss you loads,
Ron
I smiled as I folded the letter back up and placed it back in it's seal. The grey owl was still in front of me, and it hooted softly. I reached my hand out and stroked the side of it's face softly. "Thank you for the letter," I said.
"Are you really talking to him?" Nagini asked from my bed.
"I talk to you," I countered with a pointed look in her direction.
"But we actually have a language," she grumbled, coiling up tighter.
I shook my head before handing the large owl a treat from a jar on my windowsill. He took it, nibbled my finger affectionately, and then flew off. I closed the window and locked it before I bounded over to my bed and hopped up onto it, causing Nagini to hiss in annoyance.
"Come on," I told her. "I'm going to go ask Narcissa if I can go with them. You know I'll get no where with Lucius. I'll fix you some breakfast."
I hopped back out of bed and she uncoiled her body slowly before sliding off of my bed. I threw my hair up into a bun and slipped on some green slippers before opening the door of my room and walking down the hall. I heard Nagini following close behind me. When I got to the stairs, I jumped up onto the rail and slid all the way down. I glanced back and rolled as Nagini slithered down them slowly.
