My phone vibrates in my pocket as I step onto the road. I walk over to the other side and I check my phone. My hair is dripping with water and my wet singlet is clinging to my chest, due to the rain. Millie blew up my phone until I agreed to meet her at the oval a few blocks away from our school, just before lunch started. I force myself into the lane way that looks intimidating, it's the shortest way to the oval and I don't have much time to spare.

The other end of the lane is one-hundred metres away from me. Tons of graffiti is written over the brick walls that encase the laneway. I hear something in the distance and I begin to slow down until I hear the voices clearly. I am haltered by a tall figure blocking my way in the laneway, coming out from a small hiding spot.

It's not just anyone, It's Zane.

"What are you doing down here?" Zane asks, licking his lips. He grabs my waist and pulls me towards him before I have the chance to escape.

"What do you want from me?" I ask, ready to spit in his face at any given moment.

"What don't I want? You're beautiful, funny, sweet and sexy. Everything I need" Zane says trying his best to sound seductive and I almost choke on my breath.

"Just let me kiss you, once. That's all." Zane begs, as he pins me to the cold brick wall. This time no one is around. This is where he will finally take it forward. I can't move at all. I've completely lost thought as he is saying something to me.

"You tell anyone. You will not feel anything besides pain." Zane threatens. "I don't want to hurt you Morgan. But if you're going to tell people and get me into trouble, then I guess I will have to hurt you. Like you hurt me." Zane warns. I know he is bluffing, he is never true on his words.

"Zane, you're a fucking loser. " I say spitting the words out at him. At first Zane looks hurt then he shakes his head.

A strong burst of pain flies into my stomach and I instantly collapse to the ground. My head begins to spin as I slam onto the ground, gripping my stomach where he just punched me. He begins again and swings his foot into my side. The pain paralyses me and my vision blurs. The blows to my stomach created a deep nauseous feeling that has me gasping for breath and praying I don't pass out. Due to my lack of awareness, I barely notice the shouting of someone else, and Zane being pushed off of me.

"You leave her alone! You fucking loser!" I recognise the voice and I realize it's the guy I bumped into, in the boy's toilets. I try to catch a glimpse of what is happening, but my eyes shut. I hear the whimper and cries of Zane as the other guy beats him up.

"Hey, are you alright?" I hear the other guy say as he kneels over me. I hear the sound of Zane running off into the distance, but I barely focus on that.

I try to open my eyes and talk but I can't.

"Open your eyes.". At first everything is bright, and I can't move my fingertips. The guy helps me sit upright and he supports me with his hands. The pain in my stomach from Zane's punch is unbearable, making me unable to even move properly.

"You were the girl I bumped into in the guys' toilets?" The boy asks, and I nod.

"Your name is?" I croak out. I feel my throat burn but I manage to speak.

"Jayden, and yours?" Jayden asks.

"Morgan." I respond and Jayden nods.

"Well, since I just saved your ass from that guy, tell me why he was all over you. I saw the whole thing." Jayden questions.

"He has been wanting things from me for over a year now. All started in history class." I say thinking back to the day Zane sat next to me and began flirting with me. At first, I had shown interest in him but after he started to annoy me, that's when I started to reject him, and try to get away from him.

"I don't know how he ran away after I punched him like that. He must have one hard head." Jayden laughs, and I manage to laugh a little before pain takes over.

"Thank you, for what you did. I don't know what he would've done, if you weren't here." I say, not wanting to think about what he would've done to me if Jayden wasn't around.

Jayden nods, "My pleasure." Jayden smiles. "Anyway, I've got to go. Are you okay walking back to where you need to go?" Jayden asks, and I nod.

"I'm heading to the oval." I say.

"I will walk you there, that's where I need to go anyway." Jayden says taking a few steps back. I slowly get up from the ground and I begin walking with Jayden by my side. The things I've heard about him runs through my mind.

He's Addicted to drugs. He's been in prison more times than he's actually been out of prison.

I try not to get too close to him and I grab my phone out and find a number of missed calls from Millie. I dial her number within seconds.

"Morgan, where are you?!" Millie frantically shouts into her phone.

"Almost at the park, just in the lane way." I respond and I hear Millie slightly gasp.

"Morgan, that lane way is blocked off, the exit near the oval. It has been for over a year now." Millie informs me. I then see the wall blocking the other side, which usually leads to the oval.

"I thought you knew that?" Millie asks, starting to sound impatient.

"No ,I didn't. Because nobody told me." I say rolling my eyes, Jayden looking at me giving me a puzzled look.

"We can go this way, this is the way everyone takes to the oval." Jayden says and Millie goes dead silent.

"Who was that?" Millie asks, sounding more worried than she ever has.

"Relax, just some guy from my school. See you soon." I say and hang up on Millie before she can say anything else.
