I guess I kept my word with going and egging James's house. For the past three days Mel had been calling me up every hour and begging me to go and destroy his house with eggs. Even after one year of crying about James, Mel still hasn't given up on getting back at him.

"Mel?" I whisper to Mel who is lying in my bed with her eyes shut and her pillow covering most of her face. It's past the middle of the night and my house is dead silent. It's the perfect time to sneak out of my window and go egg James's house. After all, James has a nice house that would look even better with egg splattered all over it. Mel groans and she slightly opens her eyes before shutting them again. Mel finally opens her eyes and gets dressed. I sit at my open window while waiting for Mel to take her time slipping her converse on. I step outside onto the roof and I grab the ladder hanging on the side of the roof that I conveniently placed there not to long ago. I begin my ascend down the ladder, as Mel holds the ladder down.

I grab the egg cartons and we begin walking out from my house and into the tree covering. No one is out now, we hide between the trees and whenever we see cars drive by. We try to hide from anyone who would spot us out, after all, everyone in this town knows everyone. We quickly dart across the wet road and we make it to the gated side of town, where James's house stands a few streets away. I begin shaking the gate to see if it will give way and open, but it's locked. I search my pockets for a paper clip, only my phone and a torch. Mel's pockets are empty as well, so we decide to find some other way to get past the fence.

"How are we supposed to get over this huge gate?" Mel asks, and I shrug. we look around the fence for any holes that we can climb through and luckily after a few minutes of searching we finally find a small gap between the metal bars which can fit the both of us. "This must be where everyone sneaks through when they want to get into the reserved land." I say squeezing through the gap easily, right after Mel goes through the gap. Mel leads the way through the streets as mansions tower over us. The streets are empty and quiet.

I can feel my heart beating rapidly through my chest as I hold my breath for a few seconds as we pass a house which seems to have lights on. I tip toe past the house and I hear panting behind me along with claws tapping against the concrete. It's not Mel, Mel is in front of me looking around for any cars. I stand still, and I slowly look behind me to see what is growling angrily. A huge dog stands behind me with its teeth bared as it viciously growls at me.

"Mel? We need to get away from this dog, now." I whisper to Mel trying to not move a muscle. I remember once that running from the dog will provoke it, so I try to stand as still as I possibly can, before the dog's growling gets louder. The dog snares and my heart instantly begins to beat faster and I feel myself starting to sweat.

"Just stay still, Morgan. Whatever you do just don't run or make eye contact with it." Mel whispers to me as I begin to shake. The dog begins barking loudly and I cover my ears from the loud brawl of the dog. The dog stops barking, and it looks behind it, possibly towards its owners calling it. I take this as a chance to run. "Mel, run." I whisper to Mel and we begin sprinting away from the dog which soon follows us right after we begin sprinting. I fall behind as I almost stumble over a large branch on the footpath, and the dog manages to just break my leggings and almost bite my leg. I feel it's teeth graze against my skin.

Mel finds a tree near James's house and we begin climbing up the tree away from the vicious dog behind us. I quickly hook my leg over a thick branch and I pull myself up onto the tree. The dog continues barking loudly at us. I can't stop gasping from air as I sit on the tree. My heart is still beating at full speed as adrenaline rushes through my veins. Mel is panting as well but she didn't get close to the dog, she was taking the lead, which meant she had to run faster. Soon after the dog's barking quiets down and someone calls out to the dog and it pats away, back to where it came from.
