I spend the next day curled up in bed regretting last night's situations. I almost read through an entire novel and I started on my homework, but slowly give up on it. I come across the project that Jayden and I are now working on together, or more like the one I am working on. There's no use in relying on Jayden to help me with the project, I'm on my own. Besides, he'll probably ditch all the classes we have together anyway. I start on the project and begin my research, and soon enough the sun is going down and I haven't eaten all day. I walk into Millie's room and ask her about dinner, all that we can organize on is going out to eat, since dad isn't here.
I slide on a pair of jeans and a hoodie, then waiting for Millie in the car while she gets ready.
"Wanna go to that Italian place on the corner?" I ask, turning on the car and driving out from the house.
"Yes, please! You wouldn't believe how hungry I am." Millie exclaims, rubbing her stomach.
Soon enough, we make our way into the restaurant and find a booth for the two of us. The restaurant is quiet tonight since it's a Sunday night and our food comes out within no time. We begin eating our large shared pizza, never tasting something so damn good.
"So, what happened last night?" Millie curiously asks before she takes a sip of her soft drink.
"You really wanna know?" I say, putting my food down.
"Yes. Tell me, spit it out." Millie urges.
"Okay, well here's something funny for you. I kissed one of Jayden's friends in a drunk truth or dare. Except, I wasn't even drunk, but the boy was. And then Jayden comes around and punches the kid right in the face. Then I had an argument with Jayden and I left. Nothing too eventful." I admit it all to Millie, and her mouth is open in shock the whole entire time.
"Holy shit." Is all that Millie can manage to say after I tell her everything.
"I've learned my lesson. I'm never, ever going to one of those parties ever again. Trust me." I promise Millie.
"Morgan. He's here." Millie whispers after a minute, looking directly behind me.
"Who?" I ask, about to look behind me but Millie stops me.
"Don't look back, he's looking right over here. It's Jayden." Millie tells me, and I instantly feel sick. "He is coming over here. Holy fucking shit." Millie whispers and she takes a sip of drink from her glass. Even Millie looks nervous, and I see her eyes dart around the room before she looks down at her phone. I glance to my right and I see Jayden standing above me, looking nervous. Why is everyone nervous tonight?
"Hey, Morgan. Can I talk to you for a minute?" Jayden awkwardly asks, and I do nothing but nod slowly. "Can we go outside, for a sec? It'll be quick." I get up from the booth and follow Jayden outside into the night. Jayden takes a seat on a nearby bench, but I stay standing.
"What do you want to talk to me about?" I ask, looking down at my converse, avoiding Jayden's piercing eyes.
"Look, I'm sorry about how I acted last night." Jayden apologises, and I look up, making eye contact with him. "You can kiss anyone you want. I shouldn't be the one stopping you, from doing what you want."
"Jayden, it was just truth or dare. It didn't even mean anything. Fuck, I didn't even want it. But he was drunk, and I just went along with it because everyone was staring at me." I admit, "I just felt pressured from everyone."
Jayden pats to the empty spot next to him and I take a seat there. The smell of his strong, yet sweet cologne fills my nostrils and somehow comforts me.
"It's okay. I understand." Jayden looks at me with soft eyes, eyes that I've never seen before. "If you like him, go for it. No one is stopping you."
"But, I don't want him," I say, not breaking the eye contact. I feel my brain forcing me to admit that I want him, but yet, I haven't even admitted it to myself that I want him.
"Then who, do you want?" Jayden asks, and I feel as if he even knows, but he wants me to admit it.
I struggle for a minute, my voice not seeming to come out of my mouth. I just can't admit it. I've been pushing it down because the reputation this boy has, makes me second guess.
"No one." I quietly say.
"Okay." Jayden quietly says, breaking the eye contact and looking down at his hands. "Anyway, I'm holding you from your sister. I'll see you tomorrow, for our project."
"Yep, see you tomorrow," I reply, getting up and awkwardly and standing around for a second before I make my way back into the restaurant, leaving Jayden behind.
