Once again, back to the dreaded place I call school. Or hell, more like it. I instantly feel all eyes on me as I make my entrance into the hallway. I keep my head down, trying my best to avoid any unwanted confrontation. Students buzz around me and I climb my way through crowds to reach my locker, which sits at the bottom. I basically get treaded over every time I visit my locker, and today is no different. Making my way to biology, I continue to keep my head down in hopes that Mel or Zane aren't lurking around. I take my seat at the back of the class, instantly going on my phone hoping for a distraction. I hear someone clear their throat, and I look up to see Jayden, at my surprise.
"Since when do you take Biology?" I ask, looking up from my phone.
"I have been for years, just couldn't be fucked showing up." Jayden casually says and takes a seat next to me, kicking his feet up on the table and pulling his phone out of his pocket.
"Where are all your other mates?" I question, and he grunts.
"They don't even bother showing up to school anymore." He bluntly replies, not even bothering to look up from his phone.
"You could at least put your dirty shoes down." I murmur back, not sure if he hears me or not. Before Jayden has the chance to retaliate back, our teacher walks in and begins the class. To my luck, an assignment is due within the next two weeks, and its partner work.
"We're doing it together." Jayden states, not giving me a chance to decline.
"I'm doing it myself." I reply, but he shakes his head.
"You can't." Jayden finally looks up from his phone, facing me with a bright grin, "besides, I'm great at physics."
I snort at his stupid remark, "yeah, physics. Sure thing, mate."
"Come to this party, tomorrow night." Jayden whispers to me, as the teacher begins talking about our new topic on the Cell Cycle.
"Why?" I ask, confused at why he is inviting me to a party that I wouldn't belong at.
"I don't know, it'll be fun. You've never been to one. So, come out and enjoy your time for once." Jayden says, and I roll my eyes.
"I'll think about it." I respond, ignoring his stare as I continue to pretend to listen to the teacher.
I spend my recess and lunch break at the back of the library alone. I've never felt lonelier, at least with Mel I had someone to talk to, joke with and spend time with. I sit here and contemplate whether going to the party tomorrow night, or just staying home in my pyjamas. A night at home with a tub of Nutella while curled up on the couch watching Gossip Girl sounds appealing, but maybe I should go out and try to enjoy myself. Hopefully see what all the hype of partying is all about. Mel would go to parties, but never bothered to invite me out with her. I decide I should go. Why not? What have I got to lose?
