I wake up in my own bed, with Jayden sleeping peacefully next to me with his arms wrapped around me. For a moment, I've completely forgotten about what happened last night, then I remember. The sunlight seeping in through the blinds, notifying me it's at least midday. I grab my phone and check the time, twelve pm. The house is quiet, which means my dad still isn't home and Millie is probably still sleeping.

"Hey," Jayden mutters as he opens his eyes and glances at me.

"Hey, Jay." I greet him, smiling.

"Shit, what time is it?" He asks, yawning.

"It's midday," I say, and I hear Jayden grunt, burying his face back into his pillow and falling back asleep moments later.

"You sure, you're okay?" Millie asks, and I nod, looking down at my hands.

"I'm fine, really," I reply, as both of us stand around in the kitchen. We're the only ones awake even though it is two pm, Mark and Jayden are still sleeping peacefully.

"We're going to have to go down to the station, give a statement." Millie informs me, "I'll be there right beside you. You won't have to see him at all."

"I know. It's just I don't really want to re-live what happened last night. It could've ended badly if Jayden wasn't here." I say quietly, and Millie looks at me with sympathy.

"We are all here for you," Millie says before she embraces me in a tight hug. "Pancakes?" She asks with a smile.

Even in the worst moments of my life, I always have my sister by my side.
