Sam x Reader
Another day, another heart attack. You wish you could say you were getting used to it, but in actuality every passing day just served to make you more anxious. You had just moved into a new apartment and only been there for three days, and already things were happening. Well not really "things" but more of a single thing.
The scratching. It began not long ago after you finished unpacking. You sat down to watch some TV when you first heart it. An unnatural scratching sound coming from the wall. It was only happening occasionally and the way it was had been rhythmic.
At first you summed it down to being a mouse, or at least you hoped it was that. See you didn't live a very ordinary life. Sure you weren't exactly the person who was doing things, but you had friends who did them. Those things included hunting demons and monsters. You knew there were things out there. So scratching inside the walls? You could only hope it was a mouse.
The days passed and it continued. Only occurring at random intervals throughout the day. One one particular night it was a bit more...sporadic than it normally was and it scared the living hell out of you so you finally gave in and made a phone call.
You tapped your foot, arms crossed as you stood in the middle of your living room waiting for him to answer the phone. It had to only ring twice before a deep voice answered it.
"Hello?" Sam called out your name and you hummed while looking at the area that the scratching normally comes from.
"Hey Sam, I think I have a situation. I need you over at my new apartment ASAP. I know you're still in the area trying to hunt down that demon so don't tell me you can't." You chided as you remembered once he tried to play it off that he was too busy. Sure you called him to tell your neighbors to stop having sex so loud in your old apartment, but he still should've come and helped you out.
"What's going on?" He seemed tired as though he had been asleep, which was odd since it was only two in the morning.
"There's this odd scratching and it's continuing to get worse and I don't know what it is but on the off chance it's a hex or demon or something I'd rather you deal with it than pest control." You explained to him and he sighed, knowing it probably wasn't anything as he personally investigated the building before you moved in.
"I'll be over in ten." He sighed and you thanked him before sitting on the couch and continuing to read your book. In nine minutes and thirty eight seconds there was a knock on your door and you happily sprang up and answered it.
You looked at the tall man in front of you, the one you admittedly liked, and smiled. "Hello Sam, come on in and I'll show you. Is Dean with you?" You asked while looking behind him.
"No, he isn't. I came alone." Sam said while he walked over to the area that you had cleared just for him. As soon as he came close enough the scratching started, making him freeze for a moment while he tried to listen.
"I'll be right back." Sam said as he then left your apartment, making you very confused as to where he could've gone. You heard stuff from outside, as you were on the first floor, and then the scratching stopped. It was replaced by a...meow?
You opened up your window and saw Sam reaching behind a bush close to your window, only to reveal there was a large hole in the wall. Inside was a mama cat with a group of kittens.
"The fuck?" You muttered while Sam began to pick the kittens and cat up and handed them to you.
"Well looks like your ghost was just some stray cats that got into the wall. The kittens were probably scratching on the interior. This hole goes pretty deep so it probably goes into the walls of your apartment." Sam explained as he handed you the last kitten. The mama cat just jumped through the window so she could be with the babies. She seemed to be pretty chill.
"Come inside." You said while rubbing your temples in annoyance yet looking at the kittens you couldn't help but smile.
Sam complied and soon he came back into your apartment and sat down with you, across from all the little kittens.
"So like...what do we do?" You asked him and Sam was now petting the mama on her head. She seemed to be, for the most part, docile.
"Call animal control? Take them to a shelter?" Sam inquired and you knew you wouldn't be able to do so at this time. You let out a yawn and sat closer to him, leaning on his chest.
"You okay?" He asked as you curled your legs into the couch and closed your eyes.
"I haven't slept in days because of this and I'm exhausted. We can call animals control in the morning." You complained as you grabbed onto his shirt and made him lay down with you. He was a bit awkward but was used to this from you.
"If you say so." Sam sighed and you chuckled before looking at him.
"You're tired to, perhaps we should take a cat nap?" You asked him and he rolled his eyes at your pun before agreeing. As you curled up the mama cat came over and rested on the opposite side of the couch, while the little kittens huddled over to you and curled into the crook of your back.
Okay perhaps you'd call animal control. Perhaps you'd keep Ghost and her babies. For now though, you just knew you were in a large cat pile with the man you liked and that's all that mattered.
