Surprise! You probably thought I wouldn't update anymore but well what do you know, I was able to squeeze in a chapter in. I deviated kasi from the supposed flow, and inserted last chapter and this one.
I don't know about you, but why does it seem so complicated to have a relationship among the young nowadays? It seems there are more issues now than during my time, when we just grit our teeth to make a relationship work. Now, there are so many labels, so many phases. Why so many layers on a relationship if you really love each other?
Maybe it's because women have more choices now than before. Or maybe, men are more broad-minded and allow women these choices. I do hope that despite the white noise that surround relationships, the end result will always be love. That couples still know what counts the most, work towards making their relationship grow.
Enjoy reading my loves :)
Alden drove her back to her house towards the evening after dinner. They were in that delicious stage of having an unspoken commitment, the notorious "no label" relationship. Alden wanted to define it, but Maine chose to remain the way they currently were.
"I like what we have now. I know it's better to define what we have, but there's pressure in defining it. Once it's defined, we have to conform to certain norms associated with a committed relationship, and it's that conformity that ruins the relationship. Can we just hang on to what we are now for a few weeks?"
He took a deep breath, thinking of what she said. To be honest, he was not a fan of no label relationships, mutual understanding, exclusively dating and all those terminologies that simply mean one thing: no commitment. He didn't want to be clingy, and worried that if he pressed his luck, he'd lose her.
"Does this mean you'll still date other guys?"
"Is that what you're worried about? Alden, it's not a matter of me being undecided about you. I have feelings for you. But to commit? To change certain things in my life for you? Those are big steps for me. Can we just take baby steps? I'll stop seeing Gab, for one."
"Ok."
"Hey."
She took his hand and kissed it.
"We're happy naman this way, right? A little trust, please? I won't hurt you."
"Sige."
He was quiet the rest of the way, thinking, weighing things. She was also weighing things, wondering if she was doing the right thing. In the past, she was always careful about her relationships. The exes pursued her for a few months, and she tried to get to know then before she committed, but still, the relationships failed. She needed to be careful to guard her heart from disappointment and pain again.
But she did not want to hurt him. She knew it took such a big step for him to come out of his shell to take a risk on her. So she was going to make this worth his while. She was going to give him the assurance he needed to be secure in the knowledge that she was his already, in a way.
