Part 21 /I'm sorry

We walked back to camp hand in hand.

"Hey." I said as I broke away from Zack and walking over to Carson. "What do you want? You here to yell at me again?" She snapped. "No I'm here to apologize." I said. Her face softened then twisted into confusion.

"What changed your mind?" She asked. "What do you mean?" I said now as confused as she was. "I mean, just a little while ago you didn't want anything to do with us. What changed your mind?" She replied.

"Well, I realized how selfish I was being. I'm not the only one that has lost people. I was out of place acting like that. I just lost myself to the grief of losing Kaylee, my grandma, my grandpa, my dad... from losing everybody. I reacted in a way that was unfair and uncalled for and I'm sorry..." I said looking at the ground.

"Don't worry about it Kaitlynne. I understand how you feel... I guess I just haven't lost enough to go crazy... and I don't plan to." She said with a smile. "Thank you Carson." I said pulling her in a hug. She giggled and hugged me back. We pulled away and smiled at each other. "No problem sis." She said. "Your a great sister!" I said as I held out my fist to her. "Rock?" I asked. "Rock." She said bumping my fist. I smiled at her one last time and walked off to Zack.

"Hey cutie." He said when I stood next to him. "Hey cutie." I mocked. "So how'd it go with Carson?" He said with a smile spreading on his face. "We're good now... she understood." I said returning his smile.

"So do you think Max is still alive?" Zack said after a little while of silence. I could her the sadness in his voice as he talked about his lost brother. "Yeah, I do. And we will find him." I said giving his hand an encouraging squeeze. He looked down at me and smiled.

'We will find Max... He is alive. I know he is...'
