Part 22 /Carson's Story

In this chapter Carson has the spotlight.

This chapter is about her 1st encounter with the walkers...

I sat under the shade of the giant oak petting Bo Riley's head.

'Why did this all this have to happen?' I thought. I sighed and looked down at Bo. He looked up at me and licked my hand as if to say "Everything's going to be alright". But it's not gunna be alright. It never will be again. It's a dog eat dog world now.

Suddenly memories came flooding back to me.

"Mom!" I yelled from my room. "Yes?" She called opening up my door. "Are my shoes In the hall?" I asked her. "No. Here." She said throwing them on the floor in front of me. "Thanks." I said as she closed the door.

I slipped on my shoes and grabbed my back pack. "I'm ready to go!" I yelled. "Brianna! Come on!" I shouted at her through her bedroom door. "I'm coming!" She said as she opened up the door with her backpack slung over her shoulder.

We walked out of the front door and piled into the car. My mom in the drivers seat and us in the back. Mom started the car and headed for the school.

We got there and we all got out.

"Have a good day at work!" I yelled to mom. "Have a good day at school!" She called back entering the building. I also walked into the school to be greeted by a scream before I could even close the door. That wasn't just any scream tho.

"Mom!" I yelled running to where she should be. I saw one of her students taking a bite out of her arm. "No!" I screamed as I slammed my math book into the girls head.

I took a glance at her on the ground and noticed she wasn't human anymore... And she wasn't moving. 'I killed her...' I thought in horror.

I ran to my mom's side when I heard her holler in pain. "Mom..." I said as tears filled my eyes. She was so pale and I knew she didn't have long. The life was slowly draining from her bloody body.

"Listen to me baby... something bad... something very bad is going on. I want you to be strong. You can beat this new world. It will be hard... it will be cruel but you have to promise me you will not give up..." She said as she became limper in my arms. "I promise..." I told her softly. "I love you baby..." She said as the life completely melted from her body. "I love you too." I said as I kissed her forehead.

{Back to the present}

I sighed remembering that day.

"I won't give up mom... I promise. And now I have someone to live for... I found my true love mom... I found Daryl..."
