Part 3/ How I got shot

"So what now?" I asked as we walked through the rows of cars.

"I don't know yet. We'll figure it out." Zack told me.

I don't know what possessed me to do it but I grabbed Zack's hand. He looked down at me and smiled. 'He didn't object?' We just walked holding hands as we passed people cussing and fighting with each other.

I walked past some of the guys that were fighting when the bald one pushed blondy right into me. I fell on the ground and hit my head. Hard.

"Owwwww." I complained rubbing my new bump on the back on my head. "Hey jackass! Watch what your doing!" Zack shouted at the men then turned to help me up.

I grabbed his outstretched hand but before he could lift me I heard an ear piercing scream. I snapped my head to where it came from to see a woman getting eaten by one of THEM.

"AHHH!" I screamed automatically without thinking. The creatures started to come after us. "Shit! Come on!" Zack yelled at me and his brother lifting me to my feet.

"Where to?!" I asked grabbing Zack's hand once again. "We have to get around the dead! Come on!" Max shouted. We turned around and started away from the city but towards the dead. 'And lemme tell you I was scared shitless!'

We made our way around cars and dodging the dead and people.

A male corpse came from behind me and grabbed me. I screamed as I couldn't feel the warmth of Zack's hand anymore. "Kaitlynne!" I heard Zack scream before I heard a gunshot and I felt a sharp pain in my shoulder then black.

When I finally woke up I saw I was in a car with 2 people I've never seen before.

"What's going on?" I asked trying to sit up. When I did I felt an indescribable pain in my shoulder. I cried out in pain then Zack gently pushed me back down.

"You were shot in the shoulder by this young man." Max said pointing to the boy with red hair. He looked to be about 23. "Yeah sorry. I saw you with one of the corpses on you so I tried to shoot it but missed and hit your shoulder." He said. "And by the way I'm Greg and this is my sister Gina." He said. "Nice to meet you. And don't worry about it... At least I'm alive." I said.

"Here you should go back to sleep." Zack calmly said to me. "It's gunna be a long day tomorrow."

"Ok."

I slowly drifted back to sleep. But before I could slip into complete darkness I felt a warm presence on my cheek then black.
