Kayla's P. O. V.

"Mom, can I please please please, skip school and fly out to L. A. for Daniel's birthday?" I pleaded. My mom had just gotten home from yoga, so I knew she'd be in a good mood.

"Oh, Daniel's birthday is coming up?" She asked.

"Yeah, so can I go to California? I really miss him." I pouted.

"Didn't he come for spring break like two weeks ago?"

"Yes, but he could only stay for two days. I want to surprise him, mom."

"Ask your dad," she said after a few moments.

"I did, and he said it was up to you," I told her recalling the short conversation I had with my dad earlier.

"When would you leave and when would you come back?"

"I'd find a flight as soon as possible, and I'd probably come back Tuesday. Maybe Wednesday."

"What about rehearsals for Wicked?"

"They haven't started yet." I remembered the day I told Daniel I got the part. I waited until he came to visit, and then I told him. He was jumping up and down with me with the biggest smile on his face. He kept saying he was so proud and so happy.

"I guess so. But you better catch up on the schoolwork you'll miss," she said.

"Okay! I promise, I will," I said before running to my room.

I wanted to call Daniel, but I couldn't, so instead I called Iris. It was her idea for me to come.

"I can come!" I shouted as soon as the line connected.

"Yay! I'm so excited. Daniel's gonna be so happy" she said.

"I can't wait."

We talked details and then I went online to buy a plane ticket for tomorrow. I'd fly to Los Angeles tomorrow evening, and surprise Daniel the next day, his birthday.

"I can't believe you're here!" He shouted before kissing me. I had just run into his arms, taking him completely by surprise.

"It was Iris's idea," I told him.

"Thank you, Iris!" He shouted before kissing me again, this time slower and longer.

Eventually he set me down and he sat on the couch, pulling me onto his lap. I kissed his cheek before joining in on a conversation. A few hours later, everyone left.

"We're gonna get in the pool, do you wanna join?" Jack asked. Before I could say anything, Daniel picked me up bridal style and started up the stairs.

"Nope, but you guys go have fun!" He said taking me to his room.

"What was that about?" I laughed as he plopped me on the bed.

"You're my birthday present, so I want you all to myself."

Iris's P.O.V.

"If that's Daniel's birthday present, I can't wait to see mine," Zach said walking over to me.

"I just told her to come. She did the paying and stuff," I told him.

"Still, it was thoughtful." His arms slid around my waist.

"And yours will be, too. I promise." I put my hands on his shoulders and stood on my toes to kiss him.

"Are you gonna get in the pool?" Jack and Corbyn asked coming down the stairs with their trunks and big goggles already on.
