Iris's P. O. V.
"Zaaach, where are we going?" I asked tugging at the blindfold covering my eyes.
"Stop! It's a surprise!!" He said swatting my hand away. I huffed and crossed my arms pouting.
"You're so cute when you're mad." He chuckled.
"Can you tell me where we're going?" I asked again.
"No, because you're about to find out" he said. I felt the car turn then stop, meaning he had parked. I heard him get out of the car, then about a minute later my door opened.
He helped me out of the car and walked me a short distance.
"Ready?" He asked. I quickly nodded. I immediately covered my mouth when the blindfold was taken off.
"Surprise!!" A huge group of girls surrounded us.
"What is this?" I asked turning to Zach.
"It's a meet and greet." He smiled.
"You took me to my own meet and greet for a date?" I asked.
"This is just part of it. Now go on, the fans are waiting." He said pushing me to the groups of girls.
I recognized a few from the meet and greet at my show the night before, but most were new faces. I took pictures with them, and put videos of them all over my instagram and snapchat stories.
Probably an hour later, Zach pulled me out of the crowd as we waved goodbye.
"Where to next?" I asked hopping into the front seat.
"You'll see," he said making me put the blindfold on again.
"Really? This again?" I asked.
"Of course," he said turning on the radio. We both sang along to the song that had played. By the time we got to our next destination, it was dark.
"You're not scared of heights are you?" He asked helping me out of my seat.
"No, why?"
"Good." Instead of answering, he took off my blindfold. I looked up at the tall tower in front of us.
"What's this?" I asked
"The Reunion Tower. You can look at all of Dallas from up there, and in the top there's a super fancy restaurant."
"A restaurant in the sky. Nice." I smiled. Zach took my hand and walked me up the steps and into the tower.
"Aren't you afraid of elevators?" I asked as we stepped into the small space taking us up to the restaurant.
"Mhmm," he said holding my hand tight and staying close to me at all times. I just laughed at him as he jumped anytime we heard a noise.
When we finally got to the top, Zach rushed me out of the elevator. We talked to the hostess and then a waiter took us to our table.
"This is really fancy," I said looking around.
"Only the best for you." He smiled.
We ordered drinks and talked about everything.
"Are you going to Houston and Austin with me?" I asked.
"I am, but I think Jack is flying to Pennsylvania," hqe said.
"Do you think I'll have to see my mom when we go to Pennsylvania?" I asked.
"You still haven't talked to her?"
"Nope."
"Why not? You need to try to make things better."
"How about this, the next time she calls, I'll answer."
"Sure." Just then, my phone rang. Zach quietly laughed as I pulled my phone out to see my moms number pop up. I scoffed at him before walking to the bathroom and answering.
"Hello?"
"Iris! Sweetie, I've been trying to call you for weeks! Why haven't you answered?"
"Why do you think I haven't answered?"
"Listen, I'm sorry for making the assumption that Zach would cheat on you. I wasn't thinking straight, and when I saw the video I was angry."
"I get it."
"But I still don't think he's right for you," she said making my blood boil.
"What are you talking about?" I asked trying to stay calm.
"I just think that you could do better. There's too much drama with dating a celebrity."
"Mom, I'm basically a celebrity."
"But you don't have any drama, except for Zach."
"You know, I answered this call thinking 'maybe she's changed, maybe she didn't mean what she said' but obviously you did. I can't believe you could say something like that. There is nothing bad about Zach. I don't care what you say or what your opinions are. Zach is my boyfriend, and I love him. He's the best thing that has ever happened to me. He's supported me way more than you have," I spat before hanging up.
I took a few deep breaths before looking in the mirror. Then, I burst out in tears. I gripped the edge of the sink with my hands and cried my eyes out.
What in her mind makes her think Zach is a bad person? He has done nothing but treat me right, and she knows that. I wish the call would've ended better, but it's her fault. I'm not gonna lose Zach because of something that she says, especially if it's not true.
I stood up and looked in the mirror to see my makeup smeared all across my face. I did my best to clean myself up, but miserably failed.
I eventually got most of it off, but you could still see mascara and eyeliner streaks down my cheeks. I sighed before throwing away the paper towels I had used.
I tried to hide my face as I quickly walked out of the bathroom and back to our table.
"Babe, what's wrong? What happened?" He asked standing up.
"Can we just leave?" I asked feeling more tears build up in my eyes.
"Yeah, of course." He put some money on the table and wrapped his arm around my waist before taking me to the elevator.
He held me close to him as we descended back to ground level. We both got in the car and he started to drive back home. He didn't say anything until I had stopped crying.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked quietly.
"It just didn't go well." I shrugged. I didn't know if I should tell him at this point or not.
"I had one last place I wanted to take you, and I think it'd be perfect if you want to explain what's going on," he said his voice still soft and gentle.
"Sure."
