Daniel's P. O. V.
I watched as Kayla sang her heart out onstage. She looked like she belonged there, and the judges definitely saw it, too.
When Kayla and her audition partner finished, I wasn't the only one who stood and applauded. The other girl did great, but it's kind of hard to play a role when you don't know all the words.
"You did amazing, babe." I smiled pulling her in for a kiss.
"Thank you so much."
"Do we have to stay and wait?"
"No, they'll call if I make callbacks."
"Then let's go get some hot chocolate," I suggested. She nodded and followed me out to her mom's car that we borrowed again.
"Did you feel good about the audition?" I asked as we sat in the booth of a local Starbucks.
"I do, actually. Hopefully all goes well. Maybe the fact that Daniel Seavey was there supporting me will give me a boost up." She laughed.
"I doubt they knew who I was. They'll pick you because you did amazing."
"Thanks."
Iris's P. O. V.
"I'm so glad I woke up in this bed and not in that creepy ass house I was in," Zach said when I rolled over and kissed his cheek.
"Corbyn said it looked like the house from It." I laughed.
"Oh my gosh, it totally did." He laughed. "And Jazmine was the creepy clown that tried to kill me."
"That would make you Beverly. And that means I'm Bill. D-do you think that's r-r-right?" We both laughed.
I put my head on his bare chest and rubbed my thumb back and forth across his chest.
"Do you think we could have a do over date?" Zach asked.
"Yes, please. That restaurant was so fancy. I'd love to go again and actually eat their food."
"Great, because I rescheduled our reservation for tonight," he told me.
"Okay."
Jack's P. O. V.
"Hey Nicole." I smiled through the phone.
"Hey Jack."
"I tried to call last night, but you didn't answer. I just wanted to say happy Valentine's Day. Sorry we couldn't spend it together."
"Oh, it's okay. I found someone else to hang with."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Jack, I don't do long distance. You didn't expect me to actually make a commitment when you're in California, did you?"
"With the way you acted on Christmas, yeah I thought I meant something to you."
"You do, but I can't handle long distance. Hearing about everything that Iris has gone through, I don't want that. It was just a fling. Maybe if we see each other again we could continue what we had-"
"Definitely not."
"Well then bye Jack. Sorry I'm not who you thought I was."
"Yeah." I hung up and sat on my bed in shock. Nicole did not seem like the girl to be like that. Iris said she liked me so much, and she seemed way into me on Christmas.
"You okay?" Iris asked sitting next to me on my bed.
"Not really. Nicole just told me that what we had was just a fling, and long distance wouldn't work for her."
"I've heard that before." I sighed. "But I'm sorry. I guess not everyone is who you think they are."
"I guess not. I really liked her, though."
"I'm sorry." She rubbed my shoulder for a minute before standing back up.
"Zach and I are going out later since we couldn't last night. Do you wanna help me get ready again?" She asked with a smile. I acted like I hated it, but she knew I loved helping her pick out what to wear. I love seeing her happy, and we just have a lot of fun, like we used to before we had all of this music stuff on our plates.
"Sure."
We walked back into her room and opened her closet. Zach had taken his stuff into Jonah's room, knowing we would've kicked him out anyways.
"How about this one?" She pulled out a dress with a flowery skirt and a white lacey sleeveless top.
"We'll make that plan b," I told her.
"Hmm. How about this?" She pulled out a dress that I had seen before.
"That's what you wore to my graduation." I smiled.
"Do you think this date is special enough for me to wear it?" She asked.
"Of course. More people need to see you in it, especially Zach."
"Let's see if it still fits." She laughed going into the bathroom.
The dress was simple, but she made it look ten times better. It was a maroon dress with long sleeves that went off the shoulder. It hugged her body until it ended in the middle of their thighs.
"How do I look?" She asked entering the room.
"Stunning."
Iris's P. O. V.
Jack showered me with compliments as I looked at myself in the mirror. I pulled my nude heels from the back of my closet and stepped into them.
"Zach is gonna like faint when he sees you." Jack smiled, making me blush.
"What time is it?" I asked looking around for my phone.
"You have like half an hour."
"Crap, I need to do my makeup," I said rushing to the bathroom.
"I'm gonna go check on Zach," he said making me think of my first date with Zach.
I finished my simple look then loosely curled my hair. I walked back into the bedroom and grabbed my purse, just before Jack walked in.
"He's waiting for you downstairs."
"Okay, thanks." I looked in the mirror one last time before walking out of the room. I walked down the stairs and Zach noticed me halfway.
"Close your mouth, you'll catch flies," Jonah said from the couch.
"I can't help it. She's so beautiful."
I walked down the full length of the stairs and over towards Zach.
"You look...wow..."
I blushed and looked down, but he brought my face back up and kissed me.
"Ready to go?" He asked.
"Yes, please leave. You go have fun while us single guys will be here alone," Jonah said pretending to cry with Jack.
Zach and I laughed softly before walking out to the car. He drove us to the restaurant I had gone to the night before, his hand never leaving mine.
