Lauren
"Everyone fell asleep," Lucy commented as the credits to The Lion King 1 1/2 played. I looked around us for the first time in awhile noticing that they were all asleep. Alexa and Vero were practically cuddling one another on the couch. I pulled out my phone and took a picture of them so I could send it when they least expected it.
"Look at them. They look so cute." I elbowed Lucy softly so she would turn and look at what I was looking at.
"They're not as cute as you." She said, grabbing my hand.
I gulped. Was she flirting with me? I slipped my hand out of hers, patting her hand a couple of times.
"Um, thank you?" What did you say when someone said something like that? If it was Camila, I probably would have said something different. Speaking of Camila...
I sought her out. She was sleeping with her head tilted back, still sitting on the floor. I don't know how she managed to fall asleep that way. It looked super uncomfortable. She would probably have a kink in her neck once she woke up. I continued to stare at Camila, taking in her appearance.
Since she had forgotten to get a t-shirt when we went to her house, I ended up lending her one of my sweatshirts. She said they were comfy and would only accept a sweatshirt from me. So I gave her my favorite. She looked so damn cute in it. Not to mention how great she looked in those high-waisted jeans she put on to complete the outfit.
"Lauren, can we talk?"
"Yeah," I answered, not tearing my eyes away from Camila. I couldn't stop thinking of how much cuter it would have been if she had fallen asleep in my lap. Then I could have held her in my arms, played with her hair, touched her face. I sighed.
"But not here. Just in case one of them wakes up."
What? Oh right. Lucy wanted to talk. I got up from the couch where we were sitting. "Let me just get a blanket for them. They must be cold." I really just wanted to cover Camila up and make sure she was comfortable.
"Let's talk first. It won't take too long and then you can get them blankets."
"But--" I started to protest but Lucy cut me off.
"Come on. It won't take long." Lucy grabbed my forearm, dragging me out of the room to the stairway. She let go of my arm and sat down on one of the steps, patting the area next to her so I would sit there with her. Reluctantly, I sat down, my mind still on Camila.
"Do you remember when I told you Camila was the one who needed to tell you about your past together?"
I turned to look at Lucy, lured in by what she was saying.
"Yeah, what about it?" I asked, my curiosity peaked. What could she tell me? What was she about to tell me?
"I've noticed the way you've been with her and as a friend, I just want to make sure you don't fall into the same pattern."
"What do you mean?" Was there a catch? What was Lucy talking about? I looked at her, really looked at her to see if...If what? I didn't even know what to look for? Was this a ploy? Was she trying to play me? What did I need to know?
The one time I needed to know what was going on, I knew nothing.
"Camila's a heartbreaker. She's going to break your heart, Lauren. The longer you let yourself fall with her, the more she'll break you. She's done it to you before. I don't want to see you do that to yourself. I want you to know that I'm here for you and I can promise you that I won't break your heart."
