I screamed in pain as a guard dragged me by my hair after what was my fifth beating this week. The guard let out a loud huff of air as he roughly tossed me into my cell. He locked the door and walked away, leaving me to suffer through the pain. I coughed up some blood and watched it drop to the ground into a puddle. My body shook from pain. Malnutrition was evident through my torn clothing. I knew that I had to treat my wounds before they got infected, but I felt too tired to use my magic.

My body felt hot and sticky as an oncoming fever made its way through me. If there was any word that I would be able to compare to what I was feeling, it would be weak. There would be no other way to put it without using up all of my energy thinking up another word for it. I felt weak because that is what I am. If I was stronger I wouldn't be in pain. If I was stronger I wouldn't be here, I would....still be running away from Liam. I sighed in frustration as I remembered what had all occurred within the past two weeks. Memories of regret played in my mind as I felt even more moronic as I pondered my past mistakes and present situation.

How could I be so stupid as to think that I would ever be happy? That I would ever find true happiness with that monster searching for me? How could I have been so imprudent of the consequences that I would have to face for my decisions? My head spun like a carousel as I thought of all the ways I had been so careless.

With a final sigh, I leaned my head against the cool stone wall and closed my eyes. My body felt hot, my muscles sore. I felt pain flare through sides and back as a part of my torn clothing touched the wounds. 'That monster, what does he want now?' I thought to myself as I slowly fell into a state of unconsciousness.
