The man gasped as I took my knee and hit him in the gut, causing him to topple over. I reached out to one of my vines and grabbed the vial that contained my tonic in it. Prying open the man's mouth, I tipped the glass and watched as the cool liquid dripped out. The man groaned before he went limp, letting my magic take over.

I watched in the shadows as my new puppet played his part well. He had gotten me into the building without anyone noticing. I looked over my shoulder, observing the halls before following my toy soldier into Gregory's office. I waited by the door; hiding behind the wall, as I listened to the conversation that played out in the room. "Sir," the guard asked as he saluted. "Yes?" Gregory answered as he did some paperwork in front of him. "The girl, she's been found." "I see, bring her to me," Gregory commanded as he still sat at his desk doing his work. "Yes Sir!" I watched as the guard that I had manipulated walked out of the room and down the hall. I didn't mind what he was doing, my tonic caused him to have no memory of my being here when the spell wears off. His words weren't his after all, they were mine all thanks to my magic.

I realized that I was losing precious time as I just sat around and reminisced about how I made everything linked to my mind after giving the man the tonic. I silently stood up, letting the shades cover half of me now. I whispered to the earth, beckoning for it to swallow me up and bring me behind Gregory's chair. I felt the dirt underneath me as I raced past my original place and put behind the very man I had loathed for years on end.

Summoning a blade of nerium oleander poison, I stalked quietly towards my prey, effortlessly bringing the knife to his neck. I felt him stiffen as the cool slick side of the blade met his skin. No, I wouldn't cut him yet, nerium oleander poison works too fast for what I want to do. "Mayla, I've been expecting you," he said as he waited for my reply. "I bet you didn't expect me to grow up so soon, let alone visit with my knife upon your neck," I spat as I brought the blade closer to his neck.

"You always were a smart one. Tell me, how have those powers been treating you?" Gregory chuckled as he brought his hand to my knife. "Ah, ah, ah. Not so fast, you and I both know what good that would do you. I'm surprised you haven't noticed which end of the blade rests against you. There must be a reason, don't you think?" I taunted as I watched him lower his hand.

"You've spared me long enough, what do you want?" He spat as I felt his Adam's apple move against my knife. "Isn't it obvious? I want answers before my prize. Disposing you too soon will ruin the pleasure of ridding this world of your foolishness. Now tell me, why did you give me these powers and why did you kill my parents," I demanded as I slowly turned the blade to it's ridges.

"Your powers weren't given to you by me, you were chosen. I murdered your parents because I simply loathed the fact that they were still alive. How they've wronged me so in the past. I'm guessing you know that too well yourself, hmm?" He intoned as I tried to push past the temptation of killing him at the moment. "That's not what I asked," I growled out lowly as I avoided his question. "Ah, but my dear, that's what you needed to hear. You've dedicated your life to revenge, while I've simply drowned my past experiences in the minds of my enemies." "You're about to get a taste of your own medicine then, won't you?" I implied as I felt him shiver in front of me.

"You won't kill me, your mind is too weak," he hinted as he gave out a small chuckle. "Am I now? I'm not the little girl you met all those years ago. I'm no longer the weakminded eight year old that fell for your tricks. I'm going to kill you, and I'm not going to regret it," I hissed into his ear and I gripped the knife in my hand and readied it.

My heart raced as I contemplated on whether or not I should do it. My palms became sweaty and my vision blurred as I heard my conscious tell me not to do it. I brought the blade away from his neck and watched as he relaxes. Chuckled emitted from him as he rubbed his throat and turned around.

I glared at him as I watched him open his mouth to say something. Before he could, I saw someone run into the room and stand by his desk. It was Liam. He panted as he looked at the scene before him. "You didn't do it," he croaked out. "No. She didn't. Quite a stupid mistake to be honest. Tell me, my boy, how did you catch such a thoughtless being such as herself?" Gregory pondered aloud as he got up from his desk and stood between Liam and me.

Liam bowed his head and replied, "She's my mate, Sir." Gregory chuckled before he replied, "No, it's because you fell in love," his voice dripped with venom as his voice bled into the air. "That's funny coming from you," Liam responded as he clenched his fists, his bangs covering his eyes. "I am your father! Respect me!" Gregory demanded as he slammed his fists against his desk. "No father would abandon his son and kidnap someone else's mate. No father would rape women just for the fun of it and leave his child to hear about it. No father would go around the world and kill innocent people. No father would bring such sadistic morals into a house that should be filled with love and kindness. You are no father. You are just a man who delights in the suffering of others," Liam answered, his voice rising and falling as he spoke,"That is why you must die. You've caused enough suffering in this world, it is now your time to perish."

I watched as Liam suddenly appeared in front of his father, slamming him into a wall and beating him. A wave of naseua consumed me as I saw Liam summon a spear of fire and plunge it into his father's abdomen, ending his life. He turned to me, a firey look in his eyes, took me by the hand, and embraced me. "I missed you," he whispered softly into my ear as his head buried into my hair. I hugged him back and whispered, "I missed you too." We stayed like that for a little while more before he hugged me tighter and bean to shake. "I just killed my father," he whimpered as he held me closer to him. "I know, but it was for the best.," I responded as I held him back. "It doesn't feel like it though," he sobbed as he buried his face deeper into my hair. I placed my hands on both sides of his face and pulled him from our embrace and wiped the tears from his eyes. "I know, trust me, I know, but we'll get through this together. I promise," I whispered soothingly as I kissed him lightly on the lips. He nodded as he hugged me once more and gently pulled me out of the room.

It was then that I realized how much I loved him and how much I needed him. Liam wasn't someone I could forget and go on without, he was what kept me going. He was the reason why I couldn't kill Gregory, and he is the reason why I need to learn from my past experiences. People aren't perfect, I'm a perfect example of that, but it's what makes us imperfect that makes us us. I don't think that this adventure is over yet, I think it's going to get a lot more bumpier, but I know that Liam and I will get through it, together.
