Everybody else was already gathered back at the old house we were using as our base when Arianna, Viveca, Corinne, Elina, and I arrived. I could feel my eyelids growing heavy as the seconds passed by, but I couldn't really help it. Everything that was taking place these days had me exhausted, and I had no idea how to fix it. Hopefully, I would end up with a little bit of free time to use as I saw fit to cure my sleepiness, but the chances of that were slim, especially now that we had everybody that we needed all gathered up together in one location.
Speaking of everybody, they were all lounging around on the couch. Grace was asleep with her head on Kidani's shoulder, but I don't really think that she minded it. Kidani had one arm wrapped around Grace's body, pulling her in close. I couldn't help but let out a small smile at the sight.
"Perhaps we should introduce our final pair of mages," suggested Celina, taking a standing position before everybody else in the room. "If there are no objections, perhaps we should go on and do that."
Nobody said a word to show that they disagreed with this idea, so after waiting in silence for a few seconds, Celina helped two girls to their feet. They were radically different in appearance, which I have to admit I didn't expect. I had been expecting the three keys to all look like they had popped right out of a TV show, with stereotypical dark hair and matching eyes.
While my thoughts on this had already been disproven after I saw Elina, I had still expected this appearance to be on the other two mages that the other members of the group had gathered up while I was with Arianna, Viveca, and Corinne. However, this was radically incorrect, given how they both appeared.
One of them had copper hair that was curled and reached her elbows. Her eyes were a dark brown color, her skin a gentle tan. She had a small amount of freckles speckling her cheeks, which made her look rather shy and sensitive. Her arms were behind her back. The girl wore simple black pants and an orange t-shirt. It was a tad bit dark and faded, but I didn't really mind it. I have to admit that it looked rather nice on her.
The other girl was as pale as snow. She looked around nervously, as if she was afraid of merely being in the presence of the rest of us. I wanted to reach out and pat her on the head, tell her that things would be okay, but I held back so as not to look strange. Her hair was a pale blonde color that was nearly white. It was short and bobbed just above her shoulders. She brushed some of it behind her ears, blue eyes staring at the ground to avoid the eye contact of the rest of us in the room. She had a simple white dress on. It was tight in the chest and stomach areas, but the skirt fanned out around her at the hips and below. I saw what I could have sworn was that frilly stuff that makes skirts appear a bit larger. Forgive me for not knowing what it's called.
"This is Virginia," Celina said, pointing to the girl with brown eyes and copper hair. "She's got the power of Earth and rocks and such. I'm sure that you get the picture."
"Wow. That's pretty cool," said Corinne with a small smile. "Together, the two of us could set off a killer volcano. What do you say, kid?"
"I'd rather not," Viriginia said in response. Her voice was rather high pitched and quiet, which made her seem somewhat shy. I got the feeling that she preferred her own company over that of others, liking to read instead of socialize. I couldn't blame her for that much.
"Please don't do anything stupid, Corinne," sighed Celina with a small shake of her head. "We're going to need your help if we want to take down Hakate and the Trelosa soldiers. If you're arrested and experimented on for causing a volcano to erupt, we're pretty much dead meat."
"I was only kidding," Corinne groaned with a roll of her eyes. Celina let out a sigh and shook her head once again, wondering why she even bothered to speak to Corinne when we all knew full well that the blonde girl was like this from time to time.
"Anyways," Celina cut in, shooting Corinne a sideways glare, "I have one other person to introduce to you all, if that is okay with those that are here."
"Go on ahead," I said with a nod, looking to the girl that was standing beside her. The blonde girl still hadn't met any eyes in the room, so I couldn't help but feel bad that she was so nervous.
"This is Rhea," Celina told us. "Rhea has the power of air manipulation. I'm sure that it will prove to be rather useful in the grand scheme of things."
"H-hi..." Rhea stammered, looking down at her feet nervously. I could see that she was trembling lightly, which I have to admit made me feel even worse for this poor girl.
"You look scared," Arianna commented, walking towards Rhea slowly. "You don't need to be afraid. We're all nice here."
"Except for Braylee," Corinne commented, shooting a small glance at the aforementioned girl.
"Says you," scoffed Braylee with a roll of her eyes. Judging by the look in Rhea's eyes, I could tell that she was only more nervous and anxious after seeing this small amount of bickering between the two girls.
"Now that we're all done with introductions, we have things to do," declared Celina. "If we work hard enough, Hakate will be taken down soon enough. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm seriously looking forward to that, so the sooner that we pull it off, the better."
