Dianne's POV

I woke up the next day, feeling energized and joyful. I don't know why though. I stretched my body and put a smile on my face. Sunlight passed through my curtains so I opened it wider. This is day is going great.

I went to the bathroom and did my routine. I wore a bright colored blouse and my jeans since me and mom are going shopping for a dress. I'm so excited.

"Dianne! Breakfast is ready!" Mom called from downstairs.

I put on my converse and went to the kitchen. As I opened the door, Asa was also there. "Morning Asa." "Morning to you too, Dianne." We greeted each other.

"Good morning!" I joyously said to my parents in the kitchen.

"What's with the smile, Dianne?" Mom asks.

"Oh nothing. I just feel good today." I said. Dad gives me my plate of french toast. I ate it with them on the dining table. I savored my breakfast and made my plate empty.

I walked to the windows and saw a very sunny day. People are outside running, playing and doing other fun stuff. *sigh* I sat on the couch beside Asa while we watch TV. While my parents are busy, me and Asa chatted for a while. It was fun being with him.

"Dianne." Dad calls me. I placed my phone on the table. "Yes?"

"Can you help me put the plates back?" he asks. "OK." Dad gives me a plate and I put it back to the cabinet.

"Anything wrong, honey?" He asks. "Nothing, why?"

"That smile of yours never went away. You should frown." Dad jokes and we laugh.

"I'm going to get ready now, Dianne." Mom tells me after lunch. "I'm gonna wait in my room." I said and headed to my room. I saw a bird fly pass the window, chirping. I went to the window and stick my head out. The wind was calm and only a few clouds are in the sky.

"What time is it?" I asked no one in particular. I opened my phone and it was 3 in the afternoon.

"I think mom's gonna take a while." I decided to listen some up-tune music to spend my time. I danced to the beat around my room.

As I danced, the box Asa gave caught my attention. Everything was quiet while I stared at it for 2 minutes. Dianne, before I say to you the truth, i just wanna give you this. I was snapped my out of my thoughts out of it when I heard footsteps.

"Dianne, I'm done." Mom opens the door and saw me having fun.

"Oh hey mom." I stopped the music and fixed my clothes. "You ready?" She asks. I nodded and grabbed my purse. We went downstairs and said goodbye to Dad and Asa.

"Oh, what a great weather it is." Mom said looking around while we wait for a taxi along the streets. Mom hailed one and we went in. "To the mall." The driver nods and drives. I looked outside on our way.

We finally reached the mall and mom and me quickly went inside because it was so sunny. The security checked our bags and we're off to finding a dress.

"Let's go check this floor first." Mom said and I nodded. I followed her while we search. We checked shops on the first then we went to the second floor.

While we were shopping on one shop, I saw my friend, Ana. "Hey mom. I'm gonna go say hi to Ana." I said to mom. "Go ahead." I walked to Ana's direction and she noticed me. "Dianne, hi!" She greets me.

We hugged for a while. "Are you ok?" She asks.

"Yeah, why?" I asked with a smile.

"I don't know, you're like the opposite today.." She said. "Ana, everything is fine. Are you here too to find something to wear on the grad?" I asked this time. "Yeah."

"Dianne!" I heard Mom called.

"I need to go, mom's calling." I said and waved goodbye to her.

"If anything happened we're here for you ok?" "Ok..."

I found mom on the other end of the shop. "What did you found, Mom?" I asked.

"This." She showed me a beautiful lavender dress that has a ribbon on the waist part and it reaches below my knees.

"Oh wow." I said in astonishment. "Try it on, honey." I went to the fitting room and put it on. I looked at myself in the mirror and showed it to mom. Her mouth wide open when she saw me.

"It looks perfect on you, sweetie." She tells me. "Thanks mom."

"Let's buy it now." I took the dress off and mom went to the cashier to pay the dress. I sat on a chair while she payed.

I fiddled with my fingers and tapped my feet like there was so much energy in me, truth is I feel so tired.

"Mom, I'm hungry." I said as we go down the escalator. "Well, what do you want to eat?" She asked.

"Donuts?" I replied, more like asked. We reached the floor and we walked to Donuts&Coffees. It smelled so amazing inside. There was a line but it wasn't that long.

I bought 2 Bavarian filled ones for myself while mom bought a box of dozen different flavored ones for the three of them. I also bought an iced tea. We sat on a booth for awhile and when I was done, I asked what time it is. "It's 5:10." Mom answered. I carried my dress while Mom carried their donuts.

We got home 10 minutes later. Mom placed the donuts on the table while I went straight to my room and put the dress on the corner. I threw my head back, plopped down on the bed and sigh.

"Dianne, donuts!" Dad called. "Still full!" I said back. I reached on a pillow and hugged it tight. I'm so tired.

As we ate our dinner peacefully, we gathered in the living room. I sat near Asa on the couch. We talked about a lot of things with my parents. We laughed and had a good time until dad raises his glass of juice like he was going to say an announcement.

Dad said the sentence.

Everything went quiet for 2 straight minutes. I sipped juice from my glass and placed it gently back on the table. The wind howling outside can be heard from the silence inside. No one spoke or muttered a word.

Eventually, the donuts were all eaten so we readied for bed time. I had a quick shower and change into a comfy shirt and pajama pants. As always, Asa can be found on the terrace gazing out on the horizon. Instead of going to him, I chose to go to bed.

I shut the door and leaned my back on it. I put my hair aside and took a deep breath. I went to my bed and cover myself on the warm covers. I felt a tear slide down my eye. I just want to sleep right now.

But before I drift off to deep slumber, I want to tell something... I was..

"I was telling the opposite the whole time"

Oh my god, I love that end.

Any guesses what is that sentence Dianne's dad said?
