Dianne's POV

Before I went to sleep last night, I was planning to talk to Asa but because I'm tired, I decided to fall asleep and talk to him about it today.

I laid in my bed for minutes. I was nervous to talk to Asa about it. I let out a sigh and swing my legs to the side. I'm sorry bed. I need to go because I'm hungry.

I combed my hair and tied it into a ponytail. I went downstairs to eat the most important meal of the day, breakfast. I got myself a bowl of my favorite cereal. I ate it on the dining table.

While I was thinking about stuffs, I just realized that I didn't see my parents yet. I looked around and waited for someone to interrupt my loneliness. Unfortunately, no one did. Where are the people inside the house?

Asa might still be asleep. What time is it anyways? I looked at the clock. It was just 9:55 am. Am I the only one awake here, cause mom did her work late and dad arrived from work around midnight. I knew that because I heard him.

I finished my cereal and placed it on the sink. I opened the curtains if mom is at the garden. Oh, there she is. Watering her tulips and daffodils. I went outside and asked where dad is.

"Morning mom." I greeted. "Good morning."

"Do you know where is dad?" I asked. "Still asleep."

"Oh." I nod and walk away. "Thanks."

"Tell me is he's still not awake till 10:30." She said. "Got it." I walked inside and plop on the couch. I turned the TV on and watched some series.

It was 10:30. I walked to mom, she was sitting on the chair garden. "Mom. It's 10:30." I told her.

"Go order some food." She instantly replies.

"Wait. Really?" I ask, surprised. "Yes Dianne."

I ran to the kitchen and dialed the number of the fried chicken restaurant nearby. I was craving for it for a while. I bring the phone down and wait for half an hour.

*ding, dong*

I raced to the door and saw the delivery man. He looked to my direction and I saw his face. Guess who it was?!

It was Sam. Sam, May's date last prom.

"Sam!" I hugged him. "Dianne, hey." He greets.

"How'd you been?" I asked.

"Found a job." He replies. "Yeah, I can see that." We laughed.

"Here's your order." He gives me the bag.

"Thanks. How are you and May?" I asked. He blushes and scratches the back of his neck.

"Ahehe, I'm trying to find the right time." He said. "Well, I do hope you will end up together."

"Gotta go now. See you at the grad!" He rode his bike and drives.

I waved goodbye to him. I went back inside and placed our food in the table.

"What's for lunch?" I jumped as someone startled me.

"Asa, hey." I greet with a smile. "We got some fried chicken here, and I ordered your favorite too."

"Beans?" He comes closer. "Beans it is." I nod. "Aww, thank you."

"It's already 11. You just woke up?" I asked. "No, had a little talk with my parents." He sits.

I went to mom and told her that lunch is ready. She woke up dad so he can eat with us. We ate peacefully. After lunch, I helped mom washed the dishes. While we we're washing, I heard dad say something to Asa.

"Can I talk to you later, Asa?"

Asa's POV

I nod and went to my room. Mr. Brookins sometimes makes me nervous. But this time, I think like I got into trouble or something. Great.

"Shall we?" Tom asks me and I nod. We put on our coats and before we left, I saw Dianne with a curious face.

We walked to the streets until we reached a small diner. We sat on the corner booth and Tom ordered a coffee. "Do you want anything Asa?" He asks. "No thank you. I'm still full." The waiter goes away.

He comes back with a coffee mug on his left hand and placed it in front of Tom. He puts some cream on it and takes a sip.

"So Asa," here we go. "Enjoying your stay here?"

Well, that was not the question in my head. "I am, sir." I simply replied. He nods and sips again.

"Asa,"

Ok, I think this is the real one. "what do you think of my daughter Dianne?" I gulp and answered, "She's very nice and friendly." I pause. "I really enjoy my company with her."

Tom looks at me like I have forgotten something to say. I gulp again.

"Is that all?" He asks. "Uhh. Y-yes." I nervously said. He crosses his hands and leans on the back of the booth.

"My boy, you see, I know there is something between you and Dianne." I open my mouth but closed it again.

"And I am not against it." A smile formed on my face. "I see the way you look and talk to her. It was the same when I talk to Dianne's mom when we were younger. You have feelings for Dianne."

"You two are old enough for this relationship but I hope that no one will get hurt." He finishes.

"I promise no one will." I said.

Tom nods and smiles then sips more coffee. "Did you already asked her?" Tom asks.

"Asked her what, sir?" "To be your girlfriend."

"I-I'm still trying to find the right time." I answered. "Well, I'm here to support you."

We left the diner and headed back home. Tom opened the door and we hanged our coats. Each week, the temperature is getting colder.

"Hey Dad. Hey Asa." Dianne greeted us.

"How's your walk?" She asks. "It was fine." I replied.

She turns to her Dad. "Dad, mom's gonna cook dinner for us.". "I'll help her with it." Tom heads to the kitchen.

After dinner...

Asa's POV

Here I am again, gazing at the night sky in the terrace. A few moments later, I hear the same foot steps every night at this time.

Dianne intertwines her arm to mine and rests her elbows on the barrier. I rubbed my thumb on her hand. She places her head on my right shoulder as the breeze goes by.

"Asa, what did you and Dad talked about earlier?" Dianne asks.

"Well, he just asked me if I'm enjoying my stay here." I replied.

"That's all?" "We talked about the places I had been." She nods.

She faces me and looks down as she intertwines both of our hands. I leaned in and so does she. I could feel her breath when suddenly my phone started ringing.

Great timing.

I hold my phone and saw  that my mom is calling.

"It's mom." I told Dianne.

She gave me a peck in the lips. We both blush and smiled at each other. "I'm gonna answer this." I headed to my room and answered the call.
