I opened my eyes when I heared my phone buzzed again. I reached for my phone and Luke's number is flashing on the screen. I pressed ignore and turned my phone off.
I glanced at the clock on my bedside table. 2:22 a.m
I didn't had dinner and I haven't changed my clothes yet. I took off my socks and walked to my closet grabbing a pair of pink pajamas.
I opened the lights in my room and looked at my reflection on the mirror.
My eyes are bloodshot and swollen because of hours of crying. The bags under my eyes are dark. My blonde hair is frizzy and are tangled.
I sat on my bed and stared at the floral wallpaper on my wall.
I want to cry right now but my tears are tired from falling down my cheeks. They are tired like me.
Tired of being hurt and being played. Played by fate. Tired of being coward and hopeless. Tired of fooling myself. Tired of trying to be happy even if I'm not.
Allyssa is so lucky. She has beauty and brains. She's kindhearted. Not judgemental like me. She have many admirers. She knows almost everything that I don't know. And of course, Luke loves her.
But I should consider myself lucky too, I think. I have a happy family. I don't get everything that I want but my parents knows that if they're going to give me everything I'll be a spoiled brat and that means they only want the best for me. And the last thing, I am Luke's bestfriend. His only bestfriend since preschool.
I should be happy that I'm his bestfriend and he trusts me. I should be happy that Luke, the shy boy who plays the guitar for me, and only for me, is now a grown up man. Having admirers and dating a beautiful girl.
I looked at my phone. Luke called me multiple times since he left but I just ignored him. This is the first time that I ignored him multiple times.
Before, I'm always excited to see his number flashing on the screen. Sometimes I'm the first one to call him. But this time, things changed. Things completely changed.
I stood up to turn off the lights and opened the lamp on my bedside table and laid on the mattress.
I don't want to go to school tomorrow. I mean later. I'm afraid that things had really changed. I'm afraid that Luke won't spend his time with me because he's with Allyssa now. I don't want changes. I want everything to stay the same.
I reached for my phone again and turned on my phone. A buzz welcomed me when its completely on.
You have 38 voice messages and 58 text messages.
Wow. That's too much.
I went to my voice messages and scrolled down. All from Luke. I didn't bothered to open them and opened my text messages. Some are from Michael, but most are from Luke.
I cleared my inbox and went straight to my voice messages.
"Danielle please answer me."
"Danielle sorry I hid everything from you. Please answer me."
"Danielle your mum and dad are worried. Please take your dinner."
"Hey, sorry okay?"
"Danielle sorry."
"Danielle please."
"Danielle please answer so I can explain everything."
"Please Danielle, I'm freaking out."
"Danielle its past nine. Are you sleeping?"
"Danielle give me at least a minute, please."My phone buzzed and I quickly answered it.
"Finally!" he said, feeling relieved that I answered his call.
"Why aren't you answering? I've been calling you the whole time!" he shouted at the end of the line.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to raise my voice." he said and I don't respond.
