Two of Us [Tao]- Birthday Special :)

The word stroll, one vowel and four consonants, possessed a hidden meaning. Mention it, and your whole love life story came tumbling out. It wasn't so much the fact that you were married with five adorable children. In actuality, the mere mention of the word brought back the memory of how you met your husband in the first place. 

His name was Huang Zi Tao, or as you affectionately called him, Panda. 

Back when you met him, he was just an average classmate, making the right 'ooh's at the right time and naturally intelligent. However, he had this habit of playing truant once every week. The teachers marked him as 'absent with a valid reason', which was strange. How could they dismiss his absence so quickly? You would usually be pondering over the circumstance, only to forget it over time. 

One day changed all that.

You were sick on that fateful day and thus you stayed at home to recuperate. Gazing out the window, you spotted a dot on the horizon. It was moving, and as your vision focused, you saw Zi Tao running. He was sweating, a sheen of perspiration coating his features. Unmistakeably handsome, he didn't notice you at all as he jogged past your house. You couldn't resist opening the window and shouting, "Zi Tao ah! Where are you going?"

He was startled for a moment and then shyly replied, "Going to stroll on the beach alone, as I normally do." So this was the reason for his occasional absence in school. 

"Then let me come with you," Your reflexes were still quick despite your high temperature as you leaped, yes, literally leaped, out of your room window. His face was expressionless as he continued jogging in the direction of the beach. You lagged behind, stopping to catch your breath every now and then. 

Upon reaching the beach, he found a comfortable beach chair and sat on it, exhaling loudly. You sat right beside him, a table separating both of you. Before you was the glistening sea in all its full glory. The sun reflected off the water surface brilliantly, giving it a translucent cerulean sheen that amazed you. It was only after a while that you realised the silent atmosphere of the place. That's right, only you and Zi Tao were on the beach on that hot afternoon. 

"妈妈..." (Mother...) He whispered, his voice barely audible over the splashing of the waters. 

"Are you okay? What happened to your mother?" You understood Chinese, and were concerned on his behalf. 

"我的妈妈去年过世了, 自己因为想念她，所以每个星期至少两次一个人到这边来反映。老师们知道这一点，他们明白我需要'关闭', " (My mother passed away last year. Since I really miss her, so I come here alone at least twice a week to reflect. The teachers know about this and they understand I need a sense of closure) He said in a sombre tone. 

"Oh," You said sadly. "I didn't realise I was interrupting you. I'll leave." You stood up, only to be grabbed on the wrist by Zi Tao. Sitting down heavily, you were secretly relieved that he had stopped you, for you never actually wanted to leave. 

"Stay here. We'll stay here until the sunset and then stroll around, just the two of us," He spoke in heavily accented Korean, reddening ever so slightly. You chuckled and pinched his nose gently. 

He had an amazing personality. Not only was he filial but he was also understanding, and tactful in many situations. As you mulled over his strengths, you came to a sudden realisation. You had fallen in love with Huang Zi Tao. 

Of course, he eventually loved you back, confessed and before university, you two were well into a relationship. On your 21st birthday, he proposed, and, wow, look where you guys were now. 

"Thinking about me, jagi?" Your significant other entered the room, smirking as he played with strands of hair, finally tucking them behind your ear. 

"Fat chance."

This is seriously so short, I feel rather guilty. I took a long time to come up with inspiration for this and I decided, hey, Tao loves to stroll along the beach, so why not write about that? This won't be dedicated to anyone since no one requested it but I shall be a good fangirl and dedicate it to Kris :D
