Lifelong Partners 

( A/N The ships you see here? They're my ships, and I apologise if they may go against yours :( ) 

"Class, please get into pairs for this project," The teacher monotoned. The class erupted with various reactions. 

"Outta my way, Dansheen Masheen, I'm going to Baekhyun!" Chanyeol elbowed Jongdae out of the way violently. 

"Whatever, Mr. Virus, I'm going to Xiumin." Jongdae rolled his eyes nonchalantly.

"Gege! I hope this project involves Gucci, if so, I want to get that limited edition bag for my collection! It's the only one I don't have!" That was Zitao, running to where Kris was seated.

"Hey, you brought your credit card? Well, that's good, you can pay for the materials we need to buy!" Yixing nudged Joonmyeon. 

"Kyungsoo~" Jongin cooed, earning a judging look from his hyung. 

Just like that, almost everybody in the class had a partner, a person whom they could count on. Except Oh Sehun. 

He pushed his way through the crowd of students to the teachers' table. "Uhm, seonsaeng-nim? I don't have a partner..."

"You can be Luhan's partner," The teacher said suddenly, causing Sehun to be startled. 

Sehun turned around to face Luhan, and it seemed as if it was in slow motion. His heart beat faster, and faster, until he was blinded with love. 

Yes, it was strange that he loved Luhan. He never interacted with Luhan (not that often, anyway) and neither was he acquaintances with the baby-faced teenager. He was just...they both knew of each other's existence. But knowing that such a perfect being, a kind, sweet soul, existed, meant so much more to Sehun.

Perhaps today, he would take the first step. 

Why are my eyes shining like this?

Yes, every opportunity to talk to him was precious. Sehun's eyes scanned Luhan's tender facial features before sitting opposite him. 

Sehun spoke first. It was a little strange, because his voice got stuck in his throat and he could only  just manage to croak out a hello. Luhan looked back at him shyly. "Hello," He replied in that little chime of a voice he had. Sounding perfect, as always.

"I-I see we're partners," Great. Sehun no longer croaked but now he stuttered and what was more, he was stating the obvious. 

Luhan chuckled, his laugh sounding like a melody to Sehun. "It's my pleasure."

Sehun didn't know what to do. He just awkwardly bowed and stretched his hand out. For what? A fist bump? A high-five? A cordial handshake? Even he didn't know the answer.

Luhan chuckled for the second time, making Sehun's heart pound even harder. What would he do? As if in reply, Luhan gently lowered Sehun's arm. "There." 

Sehun laughed awkwardly. 

"You will need to write a poem on the theme of Friendship," Sehun saw Luhan's brow crease slightly. "It will be due next Monday." 

The bell rang. "It's break time, students. I'll give you time to work on your poem tomorrow!" The teacher left and throngs of students raced out behind her, running to the cafeteria. 

Sehun still sat there. "So, we'll talk after school? We should arrange..."

"To meet up," Luhan continued, rising from his seat. "I'll see you around, Sehun. Nice working with you."

Sehun still continued to stare at him, his cheeks tinted bright crimson. Luckily, Luhan didn't notice it as he strolled out of the classroom, whistling a tune. 

"Wow," Was all Sehun could say.

 "Sehun! Sehun!" Luhan called, his schoolbag slung over his shoulder casually. 

"Hm?" He turned around.

"Can I just ask you something?" 

"S-Sure," Sehun nodded slowly, not quite understanding.

"You've been my partner for this project...but will you be my partner in life?"

If you were Sehun. would you accept Luhan? I think I would ;)
