You thought that he had truly loved you. And days into the relationship, Kai had broken up with you. You should've seen it coming, that he was the school's player, that he loved everyone and anyone he could get his eyes on. But somehow, you couldn't get over him and move on.
Then again, there was your best friend Chanyeol. He was the one that would warn you about dating Kai, and now looking back, you should have taken his advice. To be honest, you felt that Chanyeol treated you just like a little sister and he was the protective and caring older brother who...had a fetish for bacon.
You were crying in the classroom the day after Kai had broken up with you. Well, it didn't really count as breaking up, because he had never actually asked you to be his girlfriend, you realised that way too late. All it took was a few endearing nicknames and touches on the cheek, and your heart was his.
"It's okay," Chanyeol was beside you, looking at you in the eye sincerely, wrapping his arm around you comfortingly. Every interaction brought back a painful memory. Kai's arm intertwined with yours.
Kai entered the room, with his bag slung over one shoulder. Just like how he had entered the classroom the day he confessed.
"Don't look at him, just look at me," Chanyeol assured you, tilting your head to parallel his.
"What are you doing with my girl, Yeol?" Chanyeol let your head rest against his chest and your eyes fluttered shut to avoid seeing Kai.
"Nothing that concerns you."
"Oh, really? Well, my girl concerns me."
"I bet you don't even remember her name, no wonder you keep calling her your girl. You broke up with her, yet why are you still pestering her?"
Kai defiantly ignored the first question, "Because I had some family problems. My mother thought I was too young to date, but I was too in love to care. In the end, I was forced to either break up or sacrifice her happiness. I would die trying to make her happy, to make her satisfied with life. And I nearly did die, by the way."
"You are still the flawless and perfect Kai, trust me, your mother didn't hurt a hair on your head."
"Thanks for the compliment. Oh, and don't tell me you're starting to like men. I can guess it from the way you stare at Byun Baekhyun."
"What. No! I...I like the girl in my arms right now, she's far from a man. She's beautiful, smart and deserves true love, something you could never return!"
You gasped, sitting up all of a sudden.
Seeing Kai with a smirk on his lips, you continued to listen as he uttered, "You heard your best friend. Now choose."
Looking at Chanyeol's face, you saw that he was filled with regret at making your current situation worse.
Instead of choosing any of them, you bolted out of the classroom, heart in a frenzy. Why was love so complicated? The second you thought you had gotten your love life settled, there would be a conflict. You still dearly loved Kai so much, but Chanyeol had always been there. Who would you choose?
Perhaps, you decided, it was better not to choose anyone. At the moment, all that mattered was to try to move on from Kai, and to open the door for true love only when it came knocking.

Who would you pick, Chanyeol or Kai? Even as the writer, I have my own personal opinion xD
