"The usual, Minseok," You pulled your hoodie over your head, trying to hide the evident blush blossoming on your cheeks. He wouldn't notice it, would he?
Kim Minseok, or as you secretly termed him Xiumin, worked at your favourite cafe, EXOPlanet, as a barista. His effervescent personality and dynamism were his most attractive traits and undeniably, over time, you had taken quite a liking to him. Of course, you wouldn't expect him to like you back just yet.
"Oh~ _____ ah! I've been waiting for you. I'll have your caramel macchiato with extra whipped cream and roasted almonds ready for you soon. Take a seat!" He chirped, bustling about with trays of drinks to serve to customers.
Your face turned really red as you stared dreamily at his back, his long and slender fingers as he placed tall glasses of ice chocolate onto a glass table, making a soft clink as the two came in contact. Half expecting him to turn around, you quickly looked away, suddenly shy.
Within moments, your order had arrived. Unexpectedly, Minseok had swirled a heart with whipped cream, making your heart go crazy in pleasure. Your face was tinted roseate as you sheepishly thanked him. "Oh, no problem," He patted your ponytail, before going off to attend to the other customers.
You sighed. It was a long deep sigh, a sigh full of regret and of hurt. Now you knew what the characters in your storybooks felt like, when they realised that they could never be loved back. He was probably being so nice because it was his job. If he was irreverent to any customer, he could be fired, and you were sure he didn't want that to happen.
After receiving the bill, you saw a small scrap of paper attached to the receipt.
Meet me outside -Minseok
Did he intend to tell you something? Perhaps, something special? You thought as you walked outside in a hurry.
"Yes, something special," Minseok greeted you. Up close, he was a real prince, his cheeks with the just the right amount of chubbiness, his eyelashes brushing against his slight eyebags ever so delicately.
"D-Did you just read my mind?" You stuttered.
"No, you just said your thoughts out loud," Red leaked into his cheeks as he nervously grinned and bit his lip. Though it was an act of nervousness, to you that was an act of perfection. They said that when you think someone is perfect, it's just an infatuation. And this, this feeling you are experiencing now, can never be infatuation. It is love.
"And ____ ah?"
"Ne?"
"Saranghae," He engulfed you in a deep hug, the first of many more to come. Your face was like a hot pack, like the hot packs your best friend Jongdae had given to the ghosts at a certain haunted house the both of you had gone to.
They say, "True love isn't easy, but it must be fought for. Because once you find it, it can never be replaced." And right there, as you snuggled close to Minseok on that fateful day, you realised, that you had found true love. It didn't feel like how the heroine felt when she kissed that desperado in your favourite novel. It felt more like when Do Min Joon kissed Cheon Song Yi, full of tension, but full of love, for you were with the one you loved.
"I love you too, Xiumin."
"Xiumin? Where did you get that name, ___ ah?"
"I-I've been secretly calling you that," You admitted.
"Aww, that's sweet," He grinned, kissing you on the tip of your nose gently, as you edged closer and closer to him, closing the gap between you and him.
-----------------------------
I ran out of ideas, I'm sorry! Author nim isn't emotionally attached to Xiumin, and since he doesn't talk much, I don't know very much about him! Again, that's not an excuse. I'm really sorry.
8 more votes to total 100 for this one shot series! I hope I can reach that goal soon, and please don't neglect reading EXO in Running Man, for I might update on Wednesday. MIGHT><
