The End

It was New Year's Eve. Families would be spending time together, friends would probably be out catching up on the year's events and everyone would naturally be in a happy mood. Of course, you were no exception. You weren't with anyone of the same blood, nor were you with your comrades chatting the night away. In fact, you were with someone special, someone whom you loved so much.

Unfortunately, even if you were in the mood, and even if you were in the strong, warm arms of your fiance, he didn't have the same thoughts and feelings as you did that very night. Maybe something had happened to him at his new workplace, where he oversaw the manufacturing of Rubik's Cubes. Whatever it was, he appeared to be a little off that day, too emotional and you had to admit, it was getting to you.

As he back hugged you, bringing you so close to him you were sure he could feel the fast paced beating of your heart, you froze. He had never been one to get all touchy and protective. It just...wasn't typical of him to do so. You could sense his lips quivering as he rested his chin on your shoulder gently.

"L-Luhan?" Glancing at him briefly through your peripheral vision, you continued. "Are you okay?"

He shook his head, tears starting to brim in his eyes. Never once had he cried in front of you. Sure, there were times when you fought and you were pretty sure he had bawled buckets in front of his friend Sehun, but never in your face. Tears started to streak down his cheeks like two marathoners sprinting for the finish line.

"What's wrong?" You pried his arms out and faced him, your eyes never leaving his face.

"W-What if one day we don't work out? I worry I won't be able to protect you from whatever obstacles the both of us might face in the future as a married couple. What if we find out we aren't fated years into the marriage? All those memories, all those times I've spent courting you, from the first dates during college to our seventh year in a relationship, will they have to go to waste? I don't want that to happen. But life is life, it won't always work out the way we want it to in the end. I...I just wonder...no, worry if we'll turn out okay in the future. I don't want to lose my sunshine," He smiled sadly, shaking his head.

Luhan had always called you his sunshine. The light of his life. The spark that brightened up his day. Hearing that last sentence of his, seeing him so...discouraged made you feel helpless too. Who can help wondering if the sun will stop shining one day? You couldn't bring yourself to comfort him, for you yourself weren't certain of the answer. What if you unintentionally hurt his feelings? It was what you would call a raw moment, where feelings were exposed and you had a choice between applying soothing medicine on the open 'wounds', or slashing at them.

You breathed in and, "As far as I'm concerned, I won't be letting that happen anytime soon, okay? The memories will live on, even if we don't. You won't have to let go of anything, because your sunshine will always be here, just like, how, you know, the sun is always there every day. There will one day be an end, for we dwell on this earth for only a certain period of time. Our love is like a book, Luhan. We're the characters and the authors at the same time. Just like how there are twists in life that we may encounter, the characters in the story face various challenges. As the authors, it's our duty to make a happy ending for ourselves. It isn't fate's choice. Do...do you understand?"

A few minutes passed and Luhan didn't reply. Luhan! It's already the end of the year, let's not end it on a solemn note. You looked eagerly at him. S-Say something. He looked past you, his eyes glassy. Why are you ignoring me?

10.

9. He slowly turned his eyes to meet yours.

8. "Thank you."

7. "For all the memories this year."

6. "I won't ever forget them."

5. "I understand now."

4. "Let's stay together, forever."

3. "Until the sun stops shining."

2. "Which is never. So yeah."

1. "I love you, my sunshine."

The countdown ended. His lips met yours when the clock struck twelve, signalling the start of a new year. A Happy New Year.

Okay so this is my first update of the year yay <3 I was working on this on New Year's Eve but I never got to post it because lately I've been feeling really unconfident in my writing >< Please don't stay silent, give me feedback! I really need to improve. @JialixZheng, I'm so sorry if this wasn't up to your expectations :(

I've missed one month of the year without even updating :( So happy late birthday Kyungsoo, Jongin & happy late 600 days with BTS! I'm participating in a loveshots contest this month, and

\to be honest, I'm really nervous about it but I'm happy I can have the opportunity to gain more experience throughout the various genres. But it's a challenge, so do understand :'(

As for the new BTS fanfiction (see wall for more details), it's put on hold for me to rethink about the plot. The characters will remain as Taehyung, Seokjin and Jimin, with minor features from the other members.

Happy 1K votes! Finally! This means a lot to me, I will work harder to produce better writing >< As a little motivation, Luhan's cover (?) of the Chinese song Tian Mi Mi is on the media <3 I grew up with this song :3

On a lighter note, I met one of Wattpad's most talented authors, @venuslcj on the 21st of January! <3 It's a privilege, Venus unnie! If you see, I love you! Kekeke :) Picture of us at the side!

Thank you!
