Pen and Paper

Minseok and Jongdae first meet at the dentist.
While Jongdae's a regular at the dental clinic, it's Minseok's first time getting his teeth checked here and as he fumbles in his pocket for a pen to fill up the registration form, he realises he didn't even have one there in the first place.
Someone taps lightly on his shoulder, and Minseok swivels around to see a certain broad-shouldered, long lashes framing his liquid brown eyes, his nose wrinkling as a fly flies past him. "H-Here," Jongdae hands him a fountain pen with a flourish, batting away the fly. He's so shy Minseok finds it adorable. He's so charming Minseok has to rethink his opinions about love at first sight. Yet he doesn't even know his name.
"T-Thank you," Minseok stutters too, and hands the pen back to Jongdae once he's done. The two return to their seats, waiting for their queue number to be called. Waiting, in silence.
____________
Minseok and Jongdae meet at school for the second time.
Jongdae's in the cafeteria, ordering some Chinese food for both his friend Luhan and himself. As the person in front of him collects his order, Jongdae steps forward too early, knocking into the other person as he turns around, tray in hand. The tray goes flying and Jongdae finds himself on the floor, the hard, cold, cement floor.
But his heart is warm as he looks up into the surprised face of the stranger he met only once before. Minseok. His name is still unknown. Even so, Jongdae thinks he will have time to learn everything about this interesting being that has captivated his eyes, soul, heart.
"I'm sorry," Minseok carelessly apologises, picking up the tray and bowl of noodles, looking cautiously at the miserable puddle of dumpliings and soup on the floor.
"Sorry..." Jongdae repeats after him aimlessly, watching as Minseok returns the tray to the tray collection point in the cafeteria and walks steadily off, not looking back.
He can't deny that the attraction towards this stranger is growing with each and every passing day.
__________
The third and final time Minseok and Jongdae meet, is at the junction of a street.
Jongdae was thinking about Minseok when the latter really did appear before his eyes. Just not the way he thought he would. Minseok was lying on the ground, clutching at his shoulder. His adorable, rounded face was contorted with much suffering as his glassy eyes begged Jongdae silently.
"What is it?" Jongdae inquires, bending down and noticing a dark red liquid seeping through Minseok's jacket. Blood.
"What happened to you?" He asks, even if he already knows.
"O-Oh, a little accident, nothing much to worry about," Minseok replied, smiling through his indescribable pain. Although his 'little' accident is surely, without doubt, a cause for concern.
"I-I didn't catch your name," Minseok diverts the topic, wincing as Jongdae removes his hand to have a look at his shoulder. The injury and damage done was ghastly.
"Oh? I-I'm Kim Jongdae," Jongdae smiles. "And you?"
"Kim Minseok," Minseok replies. "But I won't have a name any more soon."
"Why?
"Because I'll die."
A silence forms in the atmosphere as Jongdae shakes his head. No. He can't bring himself to believe that such a healthy, strong man can be in the face of Death itself within minutes. However that's not the end of his suffering. Minseok has a request.
"I'd like you to go back home, Jongdae, just forget you ever saw me."
"No." Jongdae utters firmly. He can't leave him in critical condition.
"Yes. Just leave, I-I'll phone for an ambulance later," Minseok says, assuring Jongdae.
Silence.
"F-Fine, but be sure to do so, Minseok, hope to see you again soon," Jongdae shuffles off, turning back to look at his newfound friend.
He feels as if he's walking out of Minseok's life. As he nears the corner, he turns back and sees his friend still lying on the floor, and sighs. Minseok wouldn't ever need him in his life, after all. He won't need Jongdae to take care of him when he's sick, to cook for him when he's hungry, to buy the steamed buns he so deserves. No. He doesn't need him. Ever.
But Jongdae desperately needs him. He wants to feel those warm arms snake around his shoulders, he yearns for Minseok's loving touch.
But how can you just expect love by handing a pen to someone who has paper?

To @PochiChan, I'm sorry this was so short. I wish this could've been longer, but I'm all out of Xiuchen inspiration, to be very honest ><
To everyone, I promise I'm working on the updates for all of my stories, and will endeavour to have them up as soon as possible.
You know, yesterday was my English writing examination. I'm most definitely going to fail it >< So I'm pretty worried, I guess, but that doesn't really stop me from writing here!! Do check out my new story The Bubble Tea Thief, and my collab account with my beloved Toothpaste @exo_pb :)
I'm still taking requests for the upcoming November holidays :)
