I breathed in the fresh, crisp morning air as I headed into school. I smiled and walked to my locker, my hair swaying from side to side behind me.

The dial of my locker clicked as I rotated it to put in my combination. A permanent smile had been etched onto my face since my date with Ryder and I had this unwavering confidence pulsating through me that my day was going to go well. For the first time I was going to make it go well no matter what.

I opened my locker door and swung my backpack to in front of me as I pulled out the books I didn't need in the morning and placed them inside my locker. I closed my locker door and rotated the dial. I turned around and rested my back against my locker with the ever present smile still resting on my face.

More people bustled into the corridor and I found myself making eye contact with every single one of them as they passed me and I still smiled.

Some looked at me and smiled back, some nodded their heads slightly in reciprocation while keeping a straight face, and some just looked at me confused of what to do as they hurried past. I laughed. Most people probably thought I was delusional. Maybe I was now.

I looked at everyone fondly. I scanned the corridors just watching everyone busy themselves in their routine before the bell rang to signal the start of the day. There was a group of girls chatting animatedly about their weekend. There was a boy standing facing his locker bobbing his head along to the music flowing into his ears from his luminous green earphones as he placed books in his locker. Most people looked like they were ready for school, but if given the opportunity would jump back into bed.

I grabbed the straps of my backpack and glanced to the entrance before turning back to face the group of girls talking in front of me. It took me a few seconds before my brain processed what it had saw and decoded it to me. At which point I did a double take back towards the entrance and saw the laughing green eyed monster walk in.

Everything happened in slow motion. He threw his head back and laughed while talking to his friends and I tilted my head and stared at his handsome face while smiling widely.

He was making his way towards me and I couldn't help the butterflies that fluttered in my stomach.

His green eyes met my chocolate brown ones. Surprise adorned his face until a gorgeous smile danced on his lips and made its way up to his eyes.

He nodded his head at me in acknowledgement as he walked past me before looking down. My smile grew wider as my gaze followed only him until he stopped a step in front of me and his friends stopped too waiting for him.

He turned back and looked down at what had stopped him and stared down at our interwined hands in shock. He tried to unlatch his hand from mine but I gripped his hand unwilling to let go.

Ryder looked up at me with fear written all over his face. He turned to his friends "Guys, give me a minute"

"Sure thing" Blane spoke as he looked between Ryder and I and smiled while his other friend nodded and they both walked off.

Ryder walked towards me quickly stopping right in front of me.

"What are you doing Faith?!" he spoke frantically and glanced quickly from side to side scanning the corridor "what if someone sees us?"

"Let them" I said.

His head swung towards me fast "What?" he blinked a few times looking at me in disbelief, his long black eyelashes framing his green eyes.

"I said let them look. I don't want to hide anymore" I stared at him with a soft expression lingering on my face.

He started breathing faster "but what about you being scared and not ready for everyone to know?" he asked suspiciously.
