Jacob's P.O.V
Dammit! I thought. I'm going to be late for Kim's party for her friend. I was just coming back from visiting Bella. I sighed as I thought of her. I love her but I wish I would just imprint on someone already. I hate seeing everyone else drooling all over their girlfriends and having to watch Edward do that to Bella. My hands tightened on the steering wheel. I calmed myself. I looked at the dashboard and saw that I was half an hour late. Crap.
Finally, my house came into view. I stopped the Rabbit and ran in. My dad and the rest of them must have left for the party because there was no sign of him or the others. I quickly changed into a pair of jean shorts and a black shirt. I ran back out and started my bike. The engine revved and I sped off towards Kim's house. It wasn't very far, so hopefully, she won't be mad. A few moments later, I reached her house. I stopped the car and heard a few murmurs.
"Jake's here," I heard. It was Quil's voice.
"Guess he did decide to come," Paul said. I rolled my eyes. Typical Paul. Before I could even knock on the door, a girl who looked my age opened the door. She was a couple inches shorter than I was. I could tell she was taller than Kim by a couple of inches, too. She was skinny and tan. She had medium brown hair.
"Sorry!" she said, almost bumping into me.
I looked into her beautiful, chocolate colored eyes and froze. Everything stopped. Suddenly, it felt like the whole earth stopped moving. I was rooted in place. I felt like the only thing keeping me here was her, as if she was holding on to me. I felt like she was the only thing that ever matters anymore. She was more important than anyone to me was. I felt as if I had to do anything in the world to make her feel happy. I had the urge to wrap my arms around her and just keep her. I wanted to hold her forever. Nothing in the world matter more to me than her. I was lost in her chocolaty, warm, dazzling eyes, shimmering in the light. I was bound to her. Nothing will ever keep me away from her. I want to be the one that she will love. I want to be the one she kisses and hugs. I want to be the one in her dreams. I want to be the one holding her tight. I wanted to ask her to be mine. Right then and there. I want to tell her what every girl dreams of hearing from the one they love. I want to keep her happy, more than happy, blissful.
I imprinted on her.
"Um . . . you must be Jake," she said, her voice melodic, but shy. I didn't notice till now that she was blushing at my idiocy.
"Yeah," I said, not looking away from her, "You must be Kim's friend."
"Ruby," she corrected. I smiled. It fit her perfectly. My little jewel.
"Ruby!" I heard Kim shout.
"Dammit," she muttered. I chuckled.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"I was trying to get away from the party," she admitted. I laughed.
"Why would you do that?"
"I'm not one for being the center of attention."
"Ruby! I've been looking everywhere for you!" Kim said, rounding the corner. "Oh, hey Jake."
"Hey Kim," I said.
"I see you've met Rubes," she said.
"Yeah," I said, looking back at her. Suddenly, Kim gasped. She must have figured it out.
"What?" Ruby asked.
"Uh . . . nothing, come on," she said to us, grabbing Ruby's hand. I followed them into Kim's living room.
"Hey, look who finally decided to join us," Paul joked. I rolled my eyes and said hi to everyone. We all talked, joked around, and just had fun. It felt nice, like a get together. I noticed a couple of the guys staring at me, but I ignored them. I wanted to talk to Ruby and just be with her but everyone else always surrounded her.
