Two Years Later

“Happy Holidays!” The school bell rang right after and all the high schoolers immediately began running out of class. I grabbed my things before heading to the teacher’s room where we would have a quick celebration before Christmas break. We had to do Secret Santa and mine just happened to be Samantha (Sami) Fallon from high school, well soon to be Samantha Call. Yup, she was getting married to none other than Embry. Not all werewolves are lucky enough to find their imprint, but you could tell Embry and Sam had a connection.

I walked in and nearly all the faculty members were inside.

“All right, settle down,” the principal, Margaret Naggy, said. “We’ll start handing out secret santa gifts before we eat.”

And so for a couple of minutes, we exchanged gifts. One of the English teachers had given me a scarf and perfume as a gift.

“You shouldn’t have gotten me anything. I’m spending Christmas with you guys,” Sami said as we walked to our cars. I waved it off.

“It’s no big deal,” I said. She shook her head, rolling her eyes.

“I’ll see you tomorrow at your place,” she said. We said bye before we went our separate ways.

In a matter of moments, I was already driving up into our driveway. I opened the front door, knowing Jake wouldn’t be home until 4. I had a little less than three hours before I see him. I decided to cook some food for us. Tomorrow was definitely going to be hectic.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, was coming over to celebrate Christmas with us.

After everything was cooked and set, I went upstairs to take a long, definitely needed bubble bath.

“Honey, I’m home!” Jake called cheekily, walking into the kitchen. I laughed as he wrapped his arms around my waist, kissing me.

Even though we’ve been together for around eight years, he always seemed to amaze me.

His beauty.

His kisses.

His hands on me.

Him in general.

“What’d you make?” he asked as he washed his hands.

“Some mashed potatoes and gravy, string beans, and fish fillet,” I said, setting the table for us. Plus one.

“What’s with the extra plate?” Jake asked, confused. I smiled shyly. “Is someone joining us?”

“Yeah, you could say that...” I trailed off. He watched me carefully, trying to decipher what I was trying to get at.

“Is it someone I know?”

“Well yes and no.”

“Boy or girl?”

“We’ll have to wait a couple of weeks before we find out.”

“Rubes,” Jake said slowly, getting up and coming to my side. He looked into my eyes, cupping my face as a slow smile crept onto his face.

“Jake,” I whispered. I brought one of his hands from my face onto the top of my stomach.

“Really?” he asked. I nodded. He hugged me tightly, lifting me off my feet. I laughed as he kissed me.

“Holy shit, I’m gonna be a father,” he said, more to himself than me.

“We’re gonna be parents,” I said, cupping one cheek. He looked at me with a huge grin on his face.

“Our little family,” he whispered before placing his lips onto mine.
