Ruby's P.O.V

Jake was acting unusually nervous. I couldn't figure out why though.

"Ready?" he asked.

"Yup," I said, smiling at him. At first, he seemed lost, but he regained himself before I could ask what was wrong.

"Follow me," he said, taking my hand.

"So where exactly are we going?" I asked as we walked deeper into the forest.

"There's this part of the forest that no one knows about and I was hoping that maybe you'll like it," he explains. "If you're okay with it."

"I'm fine Jake, don't worry. I'm fine whenever I'm with you," I admitted. I blushed when I realized I said that aloud.

"I feel the same way, too, Rubes," he murmured, stopping in his tracks. At first, I thought he was going to make a move, but he looked ahead. "Here we are." I looked forward and gasped.

It couldn't be!

However, it was. The place Jake thought that no one knew actually was my spot. It was where I went when I wanted to escape life and just meditate in a way. It was where I relaxed. I never told anyone about it because I wanted to keep this place to myself. It still looked the same from last time. There were purple and yellow wild flowers all over. The trees stood tall and majestic, just like the last time I was here. The grass was long and wild, but still made the meadow beautiful.  I smiled as I looked over my meadow.

"You like?" Jake asked. I chuckled.

"Ever since the first time I walked here," I said.

"You mean just now?"

"No."

"Wait, you knew about this place?"

"Yeah, since, well, forever. I always came here to just be off on my own, to get away from the troubles of life."

"And I thought I was the only one who knew about it," he chuckled. I smiled.

"It could be our meadow," I suggested.

"Yeah, I like the way it sounds." I blushed.

"Me too," I admitted. We stood there, holding hands.

We began walking farther into the woods, hand in hand. We occasionally had some small talk. He would help me step over trees that were on the ground. I could hear the waterfall from where we stood. My smile widened as it became louder. We saw it from a distance and walked towards it. I looked over a Jake. He had a dumbfounded, but amazed expression.

"It's still as beautiful," I murmured.

"I beg to differ with you standing right here," he said, staring at me. I blushed and looked down to hide my smile. "Rubes?"

I looked up at him. "Yeah?"

He cupped my cheek, caressing it gently. My heart hammered in my chest at the simple touch. His eyes flickered to my lower lip briefly before reconnecting with my eyes.

"Can I ask you something?" he murmured. I nodded, unable to open my mouth. He hesitated for a moment. "Will you go out with me?"

I couldn't help the wide smile that spread on my face. "Absolutely," I murmured. He grinned, wrapping his other arm around my waist. He kept glancing at my lower lip and I urged him, wrapping my arms around his neck. He leaned forward hesitantly and I mirrored his movements.

He brought his lips to mine. I felt fireworks explode within me. Everything seemed to stop as we kissed. Everything felt right, for once. It felt like Jake and I were the only ones here. His lips were eager and excited. I couldn't but feel the same. I pulled myself closer to him. He was amazing. His lips were soft against mine, then. It was so romantic. I felt like I was in a fairy-tale. Everything seemed to be going right so far. Maybe, just maybe, this is where I belong . . . Jake pulled away, staring into my eyes.
