Chapter 15: The Big Day

Pippa's POV:

Today is Jasmine's big day! I have to be at the church in two hours to help her get ready. Rachel isn't coming to the wedding so Lin and I are going together. Unfortunately just as friends.

I hear a knock on my door and tell the person to come in. It's Rachel.

"Hey what's up?" She looks worried.

"Can I ask you a question? About Lin." She refuses to make eye contact with me. She stares at her hands, fiddling with her fingers.

"Um, sure." I sit down on my bed and tap it signaling her to do the same.

"Since we came back to New York Lin has been acting different. I know part of it is because he isn't relaxing on vacation anymore but now he just seems distant." With all my flirting with Lin I never thought about how Rachel would feel.

Obviously my goal was to have Lin to myself and Rachel disappear some where away from here but I never considered her feelings.

"I don't mean to accuse you of anything but is there anything going on with you and Lin? I just want the truth I'm not trying to be rude or anything. I know you guys have a history." She finally looks me in the eye when she asks. When I look at her I see a single tear running down her face.

What do I say? I don't want to lie to her, but I don't want to tell her either.

"I just want to start off by saying sorry. Not because Lin and I are having an affair together but for how I've been acting. You've probably noticed that I've been flirting with since you guys came home. He just ignored everything I said that was flirtatious-" I'm cut off by Rachel giving me a hug.

"Thank you. I just don't know why he has been acting so strange. Can you talk to him? You are his best friend after all." I slowly pull her off of me and look her in the eye.

"I wasn't finished." Her eyes got big and more tears spill down her face. "When I went to the hospital two weeks ago there was a special moment between me and Lin. A lot of heartfelt things were said and we both got stuff off of our chests and then we kissed. Well I kissed him. Nothing after that happened. And I'm so sorry I was being selfish."

Rachel just looks at me with a blank expression. After some time passes she finally speaks.

"Did he kiss you back?"

"What!?"

"Did he kiss you back?"

"He gave me a peck on the cheek then I went in for the kiss. It was my fault I'm sorry."

"Just answer the fucking question Pippa! Did he kiss you back?"

"Yes" Rachel gets off my bed and runs to get room. "Rachel I'm sorry, but it was just a kiss." I yell.

Next thing I know Rachel comes storming back into my room. "It wasn't just a kiss Pippa! I would be happier if you guys just had careless hookups. But with you guys it's different. You have and emotional connection, a connection Lin and I don't have anymore. Maybe the only way Lin cheated physically was one kiss but he is cheating on me emotionally."

Rachel storms out of my room with tears falling down her face. I walk in the hall to go after her but she slams her door in my face. When I turn around I see Lin is home ready and to go to the wedding.
