Orion

"Is it just me or is something different about Ariel?" Cameron whispered to me but with the silence in the basement room, he might as well be shouting the question to everyone.

Ariel's head turned towards him and her eyes narrowed, making Cameron gulp loudly. Other than that, she ignored his comment and went about healing everybody in the room.

"Stop talking," I muttered, watching her as she placed the palm of her hands on the others so that they'll be healed and be at top notch when fighting against the wolves. We were heavily against her using Spirit ability in the first place, knowing that it'll only weaken her even more, but as usual, all our words flew right out the window.

"And what about Trenton?" Cameron asked, his voice dropping to an ominous whisper. "He can't really be dead, can he? There's no way Ariel would be acting like this if he was, right Orion?"

Understandably, Cameron probably is the slowest one in the group.

"Cameron," Arlo whispered back, talking to him slowly as if he were a child.

"What?" Cameron asked, clearly interested in getting an answer for his question.

"Shut up," Arlo mumbled. He, as well as I, were watching our Angel with hawk eyes, pleading to ourselves that she'll show even a hint of emotion.

Though Cameron's questions were blunt and uncalled for at this particular time, no doubt every single person in the room were thinking the exact same thing.

What exactly happened to Trenton?

And another, what happened to Ariel?

It was hard to believe that a month has passed since both she and her mate disappeared and from the state of her dress and the thinness of her body, it was obvious she went through severe hunger and neglect.

And on top of her state of mind, her crimson eyes were another problem altogether.

The crimson wolf. Is that what caused this change of attitude and if it is, then what the hell happened to her silver wolf?

I never heard of two wolves ever residing in one body before but then again, after so many years filled with surprises, should this really even be that much of a shock?

"What do you think we should do?" Arlo asked, interrupting my inner rambling going in my head. "We're going to engage in battle right now? Does everyone in the room understand the severity of this situation?"

"This is what she wants," I responded.

"Yes, but is that we want?" Arlo asked quietly and I sighed.

"I don't care about what we want. I care about what she wants," Scott muttered back.

"Does it really matter anymore?" Leon asked quietly, stepping to my side and wiping the residue of blood from his mouth. My eyes bypassed to Ariel, whose right wrist now had two puncture marks on it, no doubt caused by the vampire's teeth.

"Does what matter?" I asked, narrowing my eyes at him. The entire time Ariel was gone, Leon didn't drink any blood from any of us. He never asked and none of us offered, probably because he never shown any signs of hunger.

"How did you survive for a month without blood?" Arlo asked suspiciously, thinking along the same line as me. "You never even ate any of the food that was left for us."

"I'm not a child anymore," he replied with a shrug. "As vampires grow older, their thirst for blood can be controlled. Blood makes us stronger and it's necessary for us to live and heal, but we can go for days and in my case, even a month without blood and still live."
