Diamonds

I heard pressure makes diamonds
So why am I still not spotless?

I don't shine, I spark
Temporarily glistening.
This isn't soul food
The things I'd tell you,
Would destroy you.

Instead of shining bright,
I'm dimming with the night,
And the only glow I show
is when the stars shine from above.

I'm far from a diamond,
I would never taint it's name or reputation.
Im more silver than gold,
Clearly my confidence is not that bold.

I'll just settle for a pearl,
I'm not like most girls,
I'm just a bird with no wings
I let the wind pull at my strings,
Wondering when I might be freed
From all my misdeeds

Our lives are thin and could end whenever,
And people change with the weather
But diamonds last forever..

And my shadow goes wherever I go,
Until the moonlight changes shifts
with the sunlight,
And my heart changes shifts with my mind

Then, finally
I regain my sanity
And my demons no longer haunt me
for a split second of eternity.
