Oh, my God, he left me. What do I do? What do I do now? I can't handle this on my own. I'm not a leader, I'm not a taskmaster. I don't know what to do oh my god oh my god oh my god. Virgil was panicking, his mind racing as Thomas, Roman, and Patton began to dig through Thomas' memories. Virgil could practically feel the weight of the future pressing down on his shoulders, threatening to crush him and suck all of the air out of his lungs. And Logan had just left him here. He closed his eyes and tried to control his breathing, tried to block out the bright light and the loud noise of Patton and Roman's excited squealing.
It's too much it's too much I can't Logan please come back,Virgil thought, his train of thought all jumbled up and mushed together. He backed up against the wall, breathing shakily and fighting back tears as he slid down to the floor. Logan didn't care about him. Virgil had been such an idiot to think that Logan actually cared that he was deteriorating.
Come back come back come back please I can't please. Virgil buried his head between his knees, tears leaking from his clenched eyelids and running down his face. The whole world was spinning and he felt like he was floating, felt like he wasn't in his body anymore. He wanted to scream himself hoarse, to get the attention of the others and just get out of this mess because he couldn't save himself, but he knew he couldn't.
Virgil faintly heard someone calling his name, but his head was spinning and he couldn't breathe and he could feel something wet running down his face. Someone grabbed his arm and he screamed, trying to pull away.
DON'T TOUCH ME DON'T TOUCH ME DON'T TOUCH ME He felt the horrible sensation of his stomach twisting and churning and suddenly he wasn't back up against the wall anymore. He was on his feet, leaning heavily against something soft, something warm. Virgil screamed again and pushed the thing away, scrambling backward breathing hard, trying to make sense of what was going on around him.
"Virgil, look at me, it's okay," Logan said softly, getting down on his knees so he was at eye level with the panicking man. Virgil stared at Logan, eyes wide and panicked as he continued to cry, seeming bewildered.
"Good Virgil, good. I'm here. I'm not going anywhere, I promise," Logan said lowly, trying to smile as the other trait looked at him in pain and confusion. Logan had really screwed up this time, and he knew it.
"W-Why did you g-go?" Virgil managed to choke out, bringing his knees up to his chest and shivering. "I tr-trusted to. You said you wouldn't leave. You...you saw...and you just left." Logan's heart sunk as Virgil look of sorrow turned to one of anger and he gritted his teeth, his glare sending chills down Logan's spine.
"I was upset. It was foolish of me to leave you behind. I-I...I came back as soon as I realized, I assure you," Logan said quietly, not wanting to startle Virgil by talking loudly. Virgil grimaced and Logan's hands twitched, itching to scoop up the anxious man in his arms and hold him until he felt alright again.
"No, you didn't. You left me in there to...to....I don't know what! Y-You don't actually care! And why should you? You never did before!" Virgil's voice was raised, cracking as if it hurt for him to speak.
"Yes, I did. I've always cared, Virgil, I just didn't realize how much you truly needed help, so I didn't do anything. I'm sorry. But I'm here now, aren't I?" Logan said, his own voice beginning to quiver. Virgil took in a shaky breath and looked Logan up and down, considering him.
"Y-Yes...Yes, you're here," Virgil whispered, closing his eyes and chewing at his bottom lip. Logan smiled and fought back tears as he opened up his arms, welcoming the other to come towards him. Virgil cracked an eye open and let out a tiny sob as uptight, necktie wearing, feelings-hating, affection-avoiding Logan took him into his arms, a bit stiff at first, but eventually relaxing and holding Virgil in an embrace that could have rivaled Patton's. Virgil hiccuped and buried his face in Logan's chest, twisting his tie around his trembling fingers.
"You're here...a-and...you're...staying?" Virgil said although it sounded more like a question. Logan swallowed the lump in his throat and nodded, hugging Virgil tighter and resting his head on top of his.
"Yes, Virge. I'm staying."
