In Accordance With the Void

-In the mind palace, the only thing that separates the light sides from the dark sides is a dark dark, seemingly endless void just beyond Roman's area of the mind that leads straight down to the dark sides' domain.

-At first, the sides paid no attention to it, but then strange things started to happen to each of them.

-Virgil is the first. It makes sense, given his past with the dark sides, but it is frightening nonetheless. Every night for about a month, Virgil had strange dreams of a shadowy figure calling out to him to come to the void. Virgil would follow the person in his dreams until he woke up, just in time to stop himself from falling into the pit.

-Eventually, the figure told Virgil in a dream that he had grown bored of him, and left, and Virgil thought that it was finally over, but boy is he wrong.

-it goes for each of the sides. Logan is the next victim; Virgil can tell from how tired he is every morning and the way he jumps at shadows, but the logical man refuses to cave.

-Patton, being morality, can spot the figure's lies and dismisses him whenever he tries to persuade the dad character to join the dark sides. No promises of love will ever make him leave the others.

-Virgil is satisfied that the figure's work is fruitless and stops paying attention, not realizing that the Figure's next victim, while outwardly the strongest, has the weakest soul.

-Roman is practically hypnotized by the figure. He hangs onto every word, his damaged pride and low self esteem feeding off of empty promises and praise. Each night he goes closer and closer to the void, and unlike the other three, he realizes that he doesn't want to run away.

-One day he goes to the void of his own free will and stares down, his heart thumping and swear beading his forehead.

-he knows that this is stupid but problems of being loved and appreciated and not treated like some sort of replaceable character is so tempting. He can hear voices from the void calling out to him to join them.

-He's so close to the edge. He knows how easy it would be to just jump, and god does he want to. Roman takes a step forward and teeters over the edge, closing his eyes and leaning forward...

-A hand just barely missing his sash as he Plummets into the void.
