For the next week or more (it was kinda hard to tell the days in Alagesia. The days all seemed to blur together because no one really had any "days of the week" names.) I tried to lay low after the whole "piano incident." Yep, it didn't work. For the first few days I tried walking through the camp. I was almost cherry red in the face when I rushed back to my tent in a hurry. The people were on my back more than when I had suddenly "appeared" in their camp! That was a statement because they had been on me pretty heavily. This was a different on your back thing though, it was really more of a "wow she's a superstar" on your back.
But yeah, it got to the point where I didn't come out of my tent for two days. I almost succeeded but a crowd appeared outside my tent on the second morning, and they tried to have a doctor come in and help me get better. They were actually worried about me! This was nice to know, but it also made me wonder whether I was important to them because they liked me or I had information that they wanted.
Then after the whole "tent incident" I tried to find a place that I could be alone for a while and where people wouldn't bother me. This required trying to hide from the elves who were assigned to follow my every move. That didn't work either. When they were distracted while talking to Eragon, I ran to a spot that I had noticed that not very many people bothered with and hid there. It was kinda annoying that elves were watching me, if you couldn't already tell. I hid there and thought I had finally out witted the pointed-eared ones. That didn't work either. When I finally came out of hiding, they were standing like they would outside my tent, shoulder to shoulder with their backs to me. I let out a groan. They immediately turned around and said, "We were waiting for you for a long time! Why were you in there?" I answered by sighing and walking back to my tent. I tried to hide from them several other times that week in different places, those didn't work either. I quickly learned that you don't hide from elves, mainly because you can't hide from them. You can try all you might, but unless you are so good that not even Sherlock Holmes could find clues about you, you won't be able to even stand a chance against elves. They will find you!!!!!!! And then on top of that, they knew where I slept!
I finally just decided to explore the camp, even with the awkward staring. I was walking threw the section where they kept the cooking tents with my two Elvin Stalkers behind me one day when Arya showed up. "Hello," she said with no expression at all on her face. "Hi," I replied. Then she nodded sideways to the Elvin Stalkers, they nodded back, and then a miracle happened. They left! They picked themselves up and left. I was free! Of course, Arya was there, but that was besides the point. They had still left! "How are you Sadie?" "Oh, I'm fine. A little lost, and a little wierded out, but I'm fine. (a few minutes of awkward silence) How are you?" "I'm good, rather good actually." "That's good to be good." We continued to walk in silence, just weaving between the tents. Many of the people bowed to Arya, who would node back. Many of them muttered Shadeslayer under their breather and would back out of her way. It occurred to me that I must be in the fourth book because Arya only became "Shadeslayer" after she killed a shade in Feinster after Glaedr was killed. That was ending of the third book. That means that this was the fourth book! That meant the final battle was coming up. I had to know where we where in the book!
We walked in silence for several more minutes after I figured this out, then it became so awkward that I just blurted out of nowhere, "What was the last battle you fought in?" Arya stared at me strangely then said, "What?" "What was the last battle you fought in?" "Belatona. Why?" I felt stupid. I should have figured that out on my own because the wer-cats didn't come in until after that battle! "Oh, I just wanted to know where we were in the book. You know..........." "I see." "That means we're on our way to Dras-Leona, right?" "Yes." We continued to walk in silence from that point forward, until I asked a question that had been burning inside me from the time she had walked up to me.
