It was actually rather funny. The way we were getting into Aroughs (the city) was by charging through the water gates with a home made battering ram. It just so happened to be like 7 flat barges all connected by boards, with blocks of slate piled up on each other (especially on the front) around the edges with bags of flour on top of them. Not only did it not look that sturdy, but sank about a millimeter every time someone stepped onto it. With everyone on, it was around an inch deeper in the water than when it had first started.

I stood at the front with Roran and his "advisers." I was up against the slate blocks, when Roran turned to me and ordered, "Don't get lost now. Stay behind me, and I'll protect you." Then he turned and shouted orders to his men. Yeah right, I thought, A) I'm not one of your soldiers. I'm not gonna do what you say!! B) You're going to get so caught up in the fight that you're going to completely forget about me. So, I handle myself. And C) I can defend myself!!! As if that wasn't obvious last night!!! Besides, nothing can touch me anyway!! And on top of that I'm been working with Eragon and Arya......

While I was still deep in thought, we started moving. We surged forward as the water broke through the purposefully weakened water gate. As I wasn't expecting us to move so suddenly, my head ended up hitting the slate in-front of me. Yeah, it hurt. But honestly it hurts no matter what rock you hit you head on!! I spend also five minutes clearing my head to stop it from hurting and spinning. Then we went faster and faster down hill.

We went quite a ways, and it's a lot of boring detail, so I'll spare you the aggravation and skip to the exciting parts. We finally hit the water gate to the city with a BOOM. Again, I hit my head. When I finally was able to see again, Roran was crawling towards the gate with an axe. We hadn't broken through the gate yet, it would take more force. I looked up, peep holes in the ceiling were being opened, and archers put their crossbows through them and began firing down on us. I didn't worry about it. Everyone else took cover under their shields. Roran's advisers were yelling at me to get down, but I didn't listen. Why? Because whose face should I see through the peep hole above me than Mr. Creepy himself.

All I could see was his mouth, nose, eyes, and his forehead; everything else was blocked out by the stone ceiling. His eyes were stone hard, and had a mischievous gleam in them like he was going to do something terrible to me. He gave a sneer of a grin. Then his face disappeared. Next thing I knew there was a long range, sniper rifle aimed at my face.

On the inside, a voice said HA!! That won't hurt me!!! Nothing can!!! But instinct took over, and instead of standing there sneering at him back, I stepped out of range. A gun like that can only go so far because of how long the barrel is. This means that he tried to follow me with the gun, but the gun stopped and couldn't go any farther because it got stuck on the corner of the peep hole. It took up the entire space of the peep hole. And it was comical too!! The gun started shaking and getting jabbed back and forth trying to move farther to get a better aim. It didn't work. This meant Ian was frustrated, and couldn't do anything about it!! That made me laugh.

A surge of water came and pushed us through the gate with great force. I saw a block of slate fall on Roran. I almost freaked out, but I remembered that was supposed to happen and Roran threw it off of him 3 seconds later; so, yeah. We hadn't made it into the city as far as he wanted to, but that was supposed to happen as well.

Guards poured from the wall's staircase, we weren't to shore yet. People in the back began steering us, but the archers were taking their aim. Roran, being stupid like he was supposed to be, lept from the barge onto the dock. Immediately he took out like 30 men with his hammer. More men came from the stairs, and he darted up them to keep them from over running the Varden.

By this point we were docked and men rushed to off to join the fight. More soldiers from the city had come by way of street, surrounding Roran; as in the book. As men rushed off the barges, it was all I could do to keep my balance. I was trying desperately to stay out of the water. I clung to a piece of slate in front of me, until I was him
