The Final Bell rang and the students poured out of the classrooms and headed out the doors. Me and Bella said our goodbyes and she headed to her car, while I had to wait for my mum to come and pick me up. After a few minutes, my mum's car pulled up and I climbed in. She wasted no time in asking me questions.
"How was it? Were there any mishaps? Was it bad? Do you want me to pull you out?--" I stopped her before she could ask any more questions.
"Mum, I'm fine everything is fine nothing bad happened it was good."
"Okay, so you want to go back tomorrow?"
"Mum."
"What?"
"You don't have to worry about me, I can handle school."
"Okay." We sat in silence the rest of the way home, which was a small 2 story house surrounded by woods.Woods kept my wolf calm and was good cover to let my wolf out because I needed to if I didn't let it out enough I would be on edge and my wolf would come out no matter what I would do. When we got home I went upstairs and threw my stuff in my room and changed into more comfortable clothes to go for a run. I went back downstairs to see mum sitting on the couch in the living room reading a book.
"I'm going for a run."
"Okay, but be careful, and be home by dinner time at 6:30."
"I will." I head out the door and walk to the woods, once I get there I start running as fast as my wolf would go. Which is faster than any human possibly could. my eyes went to their wolf side changing from their normal hazel colour to the red of my wolf. My nails grew into claws and my teeth into fangs. I kept running until I came close to a small clearing in the woods where I could smell someone ahead.
My human brain was telling me to turn around and go a different way but my wolf was dominate right now and was curious as to how would be in the woods other than me. I crept forward coming to the edge of the clearing. I let my Claws retract and my fangs go back to teeth, but my eyes stayed red my wolf was still in control.
That is when I saw a boy about my age standing in the clearing facing away from where I stood. He had something in his right hand down to his side it was long and silver it looked like metal. After a moment he started moving his hand I could now tell that it was a katana he was holding. It spooked my wolf I took a step back stepping on a branch it made a loud snapping sound. The boy turned around to look for where the sound had come from. He spotted me and jogged over to me and my wolf let me regain control red eyes going back to hazel as he approached me. He was still holding the katana so I took a step back, noticing that he dropped it behind him.
"What are you doing here." He asks.
"I could ask you the same thing." I say glancing at the katana behind him he's nervous my wolf told me.
"Oh uh well I uh... I've been taking martial arts behind my parents' backs and I need to practice with the katana so I can get to the next level. So I hid it out here and come here to practice." He took a deep breath letting out a sigh of relief. " Man it felt good to tell someone that."
"Yeah well now a complete stranger knows your deepest darkest secret."
"I'm James."
"Ava."
"Now we are not complete strangers, and I wouldn't say it is my deepest darkest secret. Now it is your turn to answer, what are you doing here?"
"I live back that way." I pointed behind me. "And I like to go for runs in the woods it helps me unwind especially after the first day of school today."
"What school do you go to?"
"I just started at crossroads."
"Oh yeah, I think I saw you. Weren't you sitting with Lexi Hunt at lunch?"
"Yeah, wait you were the guy she was staring at."
"Unfortunately yes, she has had a thing for me since like freshman year, honestly, it's a little creepy."
"Talk about a stalker." I say which earns a slight laugh from him.
"Well, I guess I should let you get back to your katana practice."
"Yeah well see you around?" he asks hopefully
"Yeah." He smiled and turned around to grab his katana off the ground, but my wolf was ready to run. So I took off before he could turn around. I could almost picture the confused look on his face when he turned around and I was gone, I laughed at that. My wolf took control once again as I ran through the woods. I came to a stop after a while and checked my watch it read 6:20.I had ten minutes to get home, I decided it would be best to head back. I reached the door after 5 minutes of running. When I walked in mum was in the kitchen getting stuff out of the fridge. She turned around when she heard me enter.
"Your home with five minutes to spare, good, but put the wolf away and set the table." I looked down at my hands noticing my claws were still out. They retracted going back into fingernails and my wolf let me have control again. I washed my hands and set the table as my mum got the food out. We ate in silence.
When I was done I cleared my stuff and went to my room and grabbed my laptop and jumped into bed. I pulled up a movie and started watching it but my wolf got restless. "What do you want now I already went for a run what else do you want." I said to my wolf and yes I do talk to my wolf." you want to go back to the clearing... your crazy he's not gonna be there it's late...fine we'll go see."
I closed my laptop and went downstairs and out the door taking my phone out of my pocket to text my mum
Hey, my wolf wanted fresh air. Be back soon
I put my phone back into my pocket and ran in the direction of the clearing slowly coming to a stop as I approached. I sniffed the air to see if I could smell him I could but it was faint. I walked further into the clearing. "See I told you he wouldn't be here." My wolf growled at me "what's your problem." I walked home wondering why my wolf wanted to go back to see if he was there. I reached my room and fell onto my bed and went straight to sleep.
