Putting the Plan into Action

At the end of the day, I pull Bella aside to tell her about mine and Cody's plan for the holiday.

"So Friday night we are sneaking away and flying to the UK so when we get there we can leave our stuff with Henry and then hopefully get in to see my dad."

"What if you don't get the answers you are looking for or what he has to say is even what you want to hear?"

"Well, I will never know unless I try. Plus Henry has been working on stronger pills so I could always pick those up and it would be nice to see my old home again."

"So how many days will you be gone?"

"Three at the most."

"Okay, so it is just going to be you and Cody."

"Yeah, it will be easier that way probably easier to get into see my father when it is just the two of us and not a bunch of teenagers."

"I guess you're right so good luck with that."

"Thanks." the rest of the week goes by fairly quickly and soon enough it is time for me to go pick my mother up from the airport. Before her plane had taken off she had texted me to tell me when and where I would have to be to pick her up. So I waited there for her I was about to go find the bathroom when I hear her voice.

"Ava!" I turn to see her making her way over to me.

"How was it? The training and the flight."

"The training was good and the flight was okay other than the baby that cried for most of it."

"So you are ready to get home then?"

"Yes, I need to eat something take a shower and then sleep until tomorrow. Well and hear about your week." Once we get home I tell my mom some of what happened when she was gone mainly that something happened and my wolf has been at the surface for the most part and that I accidentally shifted in the house and broke a few things. luckily she understood and wasn't angry with me.

I feel bad acting so casually when I know later tonight I will be sneaking out and going to see my father who is in a mental institution in another country and not telling her. For the most part, I tell my mom everything because she knows everything she has been there for me through everything.

After making food for my mom she crashes in her room and I wait around in the living room watching tv for a few hours before I decide that I should pack for the trip. I pack enough clothes for three days and the pills even if they don't help I also pack some books and other things to keep me busy on the flight. I then grab the research and throw it into a separate bag.

I put the bags at the front door as it is almost the time that Cody will be here to pick me up. Since I don't feel right just leaving in the middle of the night and thinking about when my mom wakes up I write a little note.

Dear mom

You are probably wondering where I am and by the time you see this I will be back in the UK I am going to see dad maybe get some answers I will be back in a few days and don't worry I have someone watching out for me. Love you.

I leave the note where I know where she will see it as I do I get a text from Cody.

C: Hey I am outside.

A: Coming

I grab my Keys and then my bags making sure the front door is locked I walk out shutting it behind me. I run to Cody's car and throw my bags in the back before climbing into the passenger's seat next to him.

"You ready to do this."

"Yeah though I am feeling guilty about leaving like this."

"Well it is too late to turn back now," Cody says as he pulls away and heads for the airstrip. It doesn't take long for us to get to the plane and get all settled it is about 11 when we finally take off. Several hours later I am checking my phone and as I do so I get a facetime request from Bella and I answer it.

"Bella what are you doing up? Isn't it like 4 am there?"

"Yes it is and I can't sleep, I am worried about you."

"Well you don't need to worry I am fine everything is fine." I look up to see Cody heading into the cockpit.

" I know but that is not the only reason I called."

"Well then why else did you call."

"You probably don't want to hear it and I have said it before it is just I see the way you two look at each other and this would be the perfect time to talk about it."

"Bella like I have said before I may like him but he doesn't like me I told you about everything that happened Monday right and how he just pretends nothing happened if Cody really liked me he would have done something about it by now so drop it."

"You like me?" I hear his questioning voice speak I look up to see him standing outside the cockpit door.

"You weren't supposed to hear that," I say feeling slightly embarrassed my cheeks turning a bright red.

"Well I am glad I did," he says but I don't look up to see his expression.

"I guess it is because now that you know you can say that it is never going to happen and I should stop pinning after you." I look back to my phone to see Bella facepalm before logging off.

"Why would you think that is why I am glad I heard you say what you did." he gets down so he is in front of me at eye level to me sitting in a chair.

"Well if you heard all of what I said then you understand," he takes in a sharp breath.

"Well, then I guess this is my fault."

"What do you mean?" he was about to answer when the pilot came over the intercom.

"Ten minutes until we land." was all that was said.

"You should call Henry now. We can finish this talk later," he says changing the subject and going to sit in the seat he had claimed at takeoff.

I dial Henry's number and after 2 rings he picks up.

"Hello."

"Hey, Henry it's Ava."
