We split off into 2 teams each of the co-captains taking a team and as you could probably guess I was on Cody's team. I'll spare you the details as I don't remember much myself but I will tell you that we crushed the other team 6 to 1 in just a 45-minute game. Cody was a great team leader it's probably the reason we won, although he would say it was because of me as I did score 4 of the 6 points.

"Alright now I will see all of you on Monday for practice now get out of here," Coach yelled. "Ava over here." He motioned me over, I looked back to Cody.

"I'll meet you at my car," he says before walking off. I headed to where coach stood on the sidelines of the field wondering what he was going to say. He drops a duffle bag in front of me.

"This is for you."

"What is it?"

"What do you think, it's your pads uniform and everything you will need. Welcome to the team"

"I made it?"

"Yeah. First girl to ever do so."

"So I've heard. Thank you for giving me a chance."

"Thank you for helping us win our first game. Now I'll see you at practice on Monday."

"Yes coach," I say picking up the bag and going to the locker room to change. I quickly throw on my clothes from earlier grab my things and head to Cody's car. When it comes into view I see him leaning against it looking at the ground. I rush up to him when he sees me approaching he stands up. I put my hands on his shoulders he follows my lead putting his hands on my shoulders.

"What?" he asks I take an unnecessary breath.

"I made the team," I say excitedly. He pulls me in for a hug, with his height and my lack of height his chin comes to rest on the top of my head.

"I knew you could do it."

"I just feel like I'm dreaming," I say as we pull apart.

"Well you're not but if you want to be sure I'd be more than happy to pinch you."

"In your dreams."

"You know it."

"Just shut up and take me home pretty boy," I say picking up my bags from where they had been discarded.

"You think I'm pretty how sweet." I glare at him as I climb into the car. Th ride was silent I could tell there was something bothering him, in fact, he has been somewhat distracted since talking to coach earlier. I was about to ask him about it but that is when we pulled up to my house.

"Here you are home safe and sound."

"Thank you for the ride."

"No problem, see you tomorrow teammate." He says putting an emphasis on the last word.

"Till then Teammate." He smiles at me as I close the door and he drives away and for some reason I find myself watching him go. I turn to hear inside and that is when I notice that my mum's car is not in the driveway indicating she had not gotten home from work so when I walk inside I head straight to my room.

It isn't until now that I open the duffle bag that coach had given me. I pull out the jersey it is basically the same as Cody's but there were a few differences one being that while his read 28 mine reads 24 and another being that mine had my last name on the back. I placed it aside and looked at the rest of the stuff in the bag the padding and the lacrosse stick. Attached to the stick there was a note from Coach. It read,

In honor of you being the first ever girl on the

Guys team I went out and bought you your very

First stick. Hope you use it well. -Coach

I smiled to myself as I read the note I made the team. I hold up the jersey again just to take it in when I hear a knock on my bedroom door followed by it opening mum stood on the other side. Upon seeing the jersey in my hand she speaks.

"Wow, you actually made the team."

"Yeah, the first girl to do so."

"That is pretty special."

"Yeah, it is," I say putting the jersey back down.

"Well, I just came to let you know that I'm home and that I will be getting dinner ready soon."

"Okay." With that, my mum exits my room and heads downstairs. I carefully place the things back into the bag and place the bag on the ground next to my bed. I do some homework before mum calls up to me for supper. After eating I finish my homework and do the rest of my nightly routine which consisted of going for a run and taking a shower.

My run today was shorter as I ran a lot during practice/ tryouts even if it wasn't at full speed. Then the shower was a long one where I thought about the days' events. The party my friends threw for me then being asked to tutor someone in English, at practice Cody being so fun and light-hearted then coach wanting to talk to him, and him being upset by what Coach said, to making the team. Everything was something I thought would never happen when I moved here from Helmfirth England my hometown.

When I got out and dried off I remembered I hadn't told Bella the good news yet, so I whipped my phone out and went to messaging. I figured Cody would have told James So I went to the one just between us.

A: Hey Bella guess what!!

B: What?

A: I made the team!!!

B: No way really?

A: Yes! I have a jersey and everything.

B: It must be cool being the only girl to ever be on the guys' team.

A: Yeah it feels amazing. But something is bothering me.

B: What is it?

A: Coach wanted to talk to Cody at the beginning of practice and then after that, he seemed distracted or distant and I could tell he was upset because of my wolf but he wouldn't tell me why.

B: I don't know what could be up with him boys are strange creatures but they eventually come around, at least that is what my mom says. He will tell you when he is ready if it is all that important.

A: Yeah I guess you are right. see you tomorrow.

B: See ya.

With that, I put my phone on the charger as it was at low battery, and went to bed.
