At school the next day before English Mr. Boluck told me that I would be meeting the person I would be tutoring at lunch for the first few minutes so we can talk about when we would meet and whatnot. the day went normally and now I was heading back to the English classroom quick before lunch.
I was nervous although I don't know why I was just tutoring someone. Okay, so there may be a reason to be nervous as this person's grades depend on how well I am able to tutor them. as I approached the room it was silent except for the beats of hearts. I slowly opened the door to reveal a room with two people in it, Mr. Boluck sitting at his desk and a student who I was familiar with. Mr. Boluck looked up as I entered and spoke.
"Good you're here." Then the student looked at me and his eyes widened as he stood up and walked over to where I stood by Mr. Boluck's desk.
" Now that you are both here you can make a plan and everything, I have a staff meeting to get to so write a plan out and leave it on my desk then get to lunch." We both nodded and then he left the room for his meeting. I turned to my fellow classmate and spoke.
"So you need tutoring?"
"Princess just ask me what you really want to know."
"I don't know what you mean."
"I know you and I can tell you want to know why."
"What would make you say that."
"Because of practice yesterday when I talked to Coach."
"Fine I do want to know is that so bad?"
"No." we were silent for a minute.
"So are you going to tell me so I can help you?"
"I guess I have to. this is something only my parents and Jams know and I don't want others to know so please don't tell anyone not even Bella."
"I won't tell you can trust me."
"I have a mild case of dyslexia so English is not a good subject for me none really are but English is the worst the others I can usually do ok in." As he was speaking he was looking at the ground "It makes me feel stupid and that if anyone knows they will look at me differently and judge me."
"Ok let me stop you right there. you are not stupid and it is not your fault you have dyslexia and only idiots would judge you. If people look at you differently so what it doesn't matter what they think it only matters what you think." I take a deep breath as I finish my mini rant. He looks at me for a minute before speaking.
"Thank you, I needed to hear someone say that more than I thought I did."
"No problem, now let's figure out a schedule, plan thing."
"Well days we have practice are off limits but we could do Fridays and possibly weekends," Cody suggested and I wrote it down on the paper. when we finished with everything we walked to the cafeteria and joined the others at our table. Bella questioned what that was all about why we had come late but I just told her it was nothing important so she just dropped it not pressing any further. We went on with the rest of the day. When school was finally over for the rest of the day I was standing out in the parking lot with Bella James and Cody when Mr. Boluck walked up and pulled me and Cody aside.
"I saw your schedule. Why only Fridays and the weekend?" Cody answered for us.
"Well we both have lacrosse practice from after school till 6:30 and bt then it is kind of late to do any tutoring and weekends work for both of us so."
"Ok well as long as you stick to your schedule and I see some improvement in Cody's grades soon I am alright with this schedule." Once he finishes speaking he walks away and we return to the others.
"What was that about?" James asks quizzically. Me and Cody share a look before I respond.
"Nothing important."
"Well, I got to get going home before my parents question where I am," Bella states as she walks to her car.
"Yeah, Cody we should get going as well."
"Okay, I'll see you later princess." He winks at me before walking to the car with James. I wave at Bella as she pulls away. I head home and when I get there I whip out my phone and text Cody.
A: Hey when do you want to meet to tutor and where?
C: Err. 4 your place if your mom wouldn't mind.
A: I don't think she would mind. But just be prepared for any possible awkward conversations just in case.
C: What do you mean by that?
A: I think you are smart enough to figure that out on your own.
C: But I want you to tell me, just to see if I am right about my guess.
A: Not going to happen so just get over here.
C: Come on princess don't be a buzzkill.
A: how about you just get over here unless you want to be benched at the next game.
C: Man you are a buzzkill but I'm on my way.
A: Good
C: Now don't text me I am going to be driving
A: Yes sir.
C: I can feel your sarcasm from here.
A: I thought you were driving.
C: I will be but I'm not yet.
As I wait for Cody to Arrive I send My mom a text saying that Cody is coming over to study for English and that we will be in my room but not to worry the door will stay open and we will just be studying and talking but nothing else. Several minutes later there was a knock on my door. I go over to open it and let Cody in.
"Welcome to my humble home."
"Is that a quote from Lion King?"
"Maybe. Where do you want to start." I say as we walk up the stairs and to my room.
"Doesn't matter." We sit on my bed and get to work on some of the reading we have to do for Monday.
