I wake up to sunlight beaming through my bedroom window. I sit up as I don't remember going to my room the last thing I remember was sitting in the workout room with Cody after my freakout. I throw the covers off of me and climb out of bed still in my workout clothes from last night. I walk out of my room and down the stairs when I get to the kitchen I see a note left on the counter.
Sorry I couldn't be there with you when You woke up
I was going to make some pancakes but then
James called saying That parents were about to
freak out so I had to go. Call me when you get up
Princess, I want to make sure you are alright
I put the note back down and pour myself a bowl of cereal and head back up to my room plopping down on my bed when I get there. When I finish my cereal my phone goes off with a text from Cody.
C: I thought you would have been awake by now maybe you haven't seen my note but please call I want to know you are alright.
I don't respond and I don't call I just turn my phone off and lay back down in bed ready to ignore the world.
Cody's POV
When I got home after leaving Ava's house James is waiting for me on the front porch.
"Cody where have you been?"
"I was at Ava's," I say simply as if it is the most normal thing in the world.
"What!"
"Dude it is not what you are thinking. We were working and then decided to go for a run Ava had a panic Attack I took her back to her house and calmed her down and she fell asleep on my shoulder so after a while I brought her to her room. And by that time it was already really late and I was really tired so I didn't want to risk driving home and I crashed on the couch." I say telling the lie I had been rehearsing in my head but making it more of the truth than what I would have told my parents.
"Is she okay?"
"I don't know you called before she woke up I left her a note to call me when she got up but I haven't gotten anything yet. So am I in trouble with mom and dad."
"No, I told them you got home around 6 and weren't feeling good so you just wanted to be left alone."
"What about the missing car."
"Said that you got dropped off because the car was low on gas."
"Thanks, man you are the best brother ever. Now if you will excuse me I am going to take a shower and then lay in bed watching tv." James steps aside to let me in and I make a b line for my room to grab some clothes to change into.
After I get out of the shower I check my phone as I never heard it ring and sure enough no missed calls or even any texts so I go ahead and text her. A few minutes later James comes in.
"Hey, any word from Ava yet?"
"No, I texted her in case she hasn't seen my note but so far nothing."
"Ah well until you hear something you want to go practice with the katanas in the woods we haven't done that in a while." I don't register what he said as I am in my own world of thoughts. " Hey bro earth to Cody." he snaps his fingers right in front of my face successfully getting my attention.
"What, sorry I just thinking."
"Thinking about what?"
"Nothing."
"It's not nothing if it has you like this come on a burden shared is a burden halved."
"Don't go using that quote on me brother."
"Just tell me what is on your mind?"
"Fine I will tell you but you can not tell anybody else ever got it."
"Okay promise." I take a deep breath preparing myself to tell James.
"I almost kissed Ava yesterday."
"What!"
"I pulled away before I actually did."
"Why did you pull away, you like her don't you?"
"Yes I do like her, I like her so much."
"Well, what did you do after you almost kissed."
"I pretended nothing happened and so did she so she obviously doesn't like me that way."
"You can't be sure she doesn't like you maybe she just brushed it off because you did the same maybe she was just following your lead."
"Even if that is true I think I am the reason she had the panic attack last night so she probably hates me."
"But you were the one who calmed her down and you let her fall asleep on your shoulder, I don't think she hates you."
"Then why hasn't she called or at the very least responded to my text."
"Maybe her phone is dead."
"No, it's not she had it on the charger when I left."
"Maybe she just--" I cut him off"Dude face it, she hates me or at the very least she is upset with me."
"Well then talk to her, that is the only way to know for sure."
"I think I am going to give her space this weekend. I will talk to her at school on Monday."
"Whatever man, throw on some athletic clothes we are going to take the katanas to the clearing in the woods and we are going to spar."
"Fine, I will get dressed now get out of my room." I get off my bed and push James out the door closing it behind him I take a deep breath and get dressed and head out to meet James outside and we make our way to the clearing.
All the time while we were sparing I was acting as if I wasn't thinking about what happened last night but I was and James doesn't even know the full and true story so he won't understand why I am so worried. The only way I may get her to forgive me for making her lose control is to make it so she can talk to her dad and get answers.
Once our sparring session was done I went to my room and started planning.
Ava'S POV
I don't know exactly why I turned my phone off, maybe it was because I felt that the wolf was right on the surface and didn't want to trigger anything because I can't control it. Maybe it was because of what happened with Cody and I wasn't ready to talk to him and hear his voice.
I may not be mad at him I was the one who wanted to spar and I did show him the room he did nothing wrong. Whatever my reason was I shouldn't have listened to it because it made things worse and I shifted in the house before I could make it outside.
