The Picnic

As we eat we look at the work needed to be done for English class and get started on work that is due next week so neither of us gets behind with lacrosse practice and the game.

It was about 1:30 by the time we decided that we had enough of studying. I put the books aside and turn so that I was lying on my back looking up at the sky, Cody lay on his side facing me.

"What are you thinking about?" he asks.

"Things,"

"Like what?"

"Nothing really."

"Come on you can talk to me you can trust me."

"You didn't leave anything out when you told me what had happened yesterday did you?"

"No, why would I."

"I don't know its just I have this condition that is rare, it's not going to kill me or anything in case you were wondering. It has weird effects on me that's why I take the medicine. And when stuff like this happens I need to know everything."

"Well, I told you all that happened other than maybe some small details that I don't remember."

"Okay thank you."

"Of course," he turns and lays on his back so our shoulders are touching. We stay like that for what seems like hours until my phone buzzed in my pocket. It was a text from my mum asking what is taking me so long.

"I have to go, mum, wants me home, the picnic was nice, do you need help cleaning up."

"No, I got it and it was nice we should do it again."

"I will see you tomorrow at school."

"Yup see you then." I walked off back in the direction of my house and took my phone back out and texted mum.

A: No need to worry he didn't see anything on my way back right now be there in a few."

M: okay hurry.

Mothers always so overprotective of their daughters, but I guess I can understand in this instance I would be worried if I was in her shoes. I continued to walk back home not caring that my mum would probably be upset that I didn't run and get there faster. I seem to always be running for some reason but today I didn't feel the need to so I walked.

When I walked through the door I saw my mother in the kitchen pacing back and forth. But when she heard the door close she turned to look at me.

"What took you so long I was worried sick I thought something happened to you,  you said you would be home in a few, that was not a few."

"Mum it is okay I am okay. I took longer because I walked home."

"You walked why would you do that."

"I didn't feel the need to run so I took my time and enjoyed walking through the woods."

"You should have texted me that."

"I knew you would want me home as soon as possible and would tell me to run."

"Because you love running."

"I do but I have been doing a lot of that lately. So I am going to go and use the training room."

"Wait what did he say."

"Nothing really, I had asked him if he told me everything about what happened and he said he did other than some small details he might not remember."

"And you believed him you didn't sense anything."

"Mum I trust him I would trust him with my life mum he wouldn't do anything to hurt me so I believe him when he says he told me everything."

"Ok fine. Now go train do what you must." I walked off leaving mum in the kitchen and headed upstairs to change out of the clothes I had been in. I changed into running shorts and a sports bra with a tank top over it. As I walked downstairs to the workout training room I threw my hair up into a ponytail. I spent the time until I was called down for diner working in there mostly punching and kicking the practice dummies. After eating I went to my room and grabbed clothes before heading into my bathroom to take a quick shower to clean off the sweat that accumulated.

Once I finished in the shower I did my remaining homework which wasn't all that much and then climbed into bed and watched random TV shows until I drifted off to sleep.

The next morning I reluctantly got up out of bed and got ready for the day. Probably the only good or more fun thing about the day would be going to practice after school and getting to release the stress of the day in that way.

It was Lunch and the boys were sitting with their guy friends today so it left me and Bella at our usual table with no one to stop Alec if he tried to flirt even though he hasn't done that much lately I'd rather be safe than sorry.

"Hey, Ava how was your weekend."

Bella says as she walked up to the table and sat down beside me.

"Oh fine you know just the full moon and being affected and passing out or being knocked unconscious in front of Cody then not remembering anything the typical weekend."

"WHAT! You passed out and didn't remember what happened and Cody was there and it was the full moon."

"Yeah, I am pretty sure that is what I said."

"Please explain."

"Well me and Cody were going to study Saturday afternoon and he was going to take me to a restaurant to thank me for helping him study but because it was the full moon II would have needed to take the pills nut they wouldn't have been working by then so I moved it to that night but before leaving I took some more pills than ren there and it must have affected me with the extra dosage so I was dizzy and everything we decided that it would just be best I go home and I insisted on walking myself home then tripped or fainted and then Cody carried me home."

"And you didn't remember anything after that."

"I didn't remember what happened much after taking the pills Cody told me everything else."

"What did you say to him about what happened."

"I said that I have a rare condition and I take medicine for it and when stuff like this happens I need to know."

"He bought that."

"Yeah, I have told him other times that I take medicine but not what for."

"Well, at least your secret is safe. Although I think you could trust him with it because you li--"

"Don't say it."

"Say what that you like him."

"Why did you say it."

"Because it is the truth it is clear to me and probably to James as well. Why don't you want me to say it?"

"Because of what it will mean."

"Okay, I am totally lost here.'

"If you say it if anyone says it I will have to accept it and I don't know if I want to."

"Not sure I know what you mean by that."

"I don't know how to explain it. I have never really liked anyone before but now, it is just I don't know what will happen with my wolf and stuff people who get close find out and that could lead to one or both getting hurt."

"You don't want him finding out then hating you thinking you are a monster and doing something that could put you in danger."

"Something like that I guess."

"Well I'll tell you this you won't know unless you try, maybe he will accept you for who and what you are if he finds out."

"But he will know I have been lying to him."

"If he is a good person he will be understanding if not well there are other fish in the sea."

"I guess you are right," for the rest of lunch we had a more light-hearted talk as we ate.
