Luckily I don't get knocked to the ground and only lose my balance somewhat but a hand grabs my wrist or hand something so I don't fall.
"Ava you should watch where you're going."
"Well, Alec maybe you could have gotten out of my way so I wouldn't run into you."
"I was standing right here and if you would have looked up you could have avoided me the hallway is basically empty and don't you have to get to lacrosse practice?"
"Yes but if you must know I have a lot on my mind so I am not focused."
"You okay anything I can help you with?"
"No, it's fine really."
"Alec can we get going I want to get home. Oh, Ava, I didn't see you there," Great Lexi is here.
"Sure you didn't."
"So what were you two talking about?"
"Nothing I was just about to leave."
"Well, in that case, let's get out of here big brother."
"Hold on let me finish talking to Ava."
"Fine I will be in the car but you better hurry." Lexi marches off acting like the drama queen she is leaving me and Alec alone in the mostly empty hall.
"Let me know when your next game is I would love to see you in action," Alec says putting a hand on my shoulder.
"There you are I have been waiting for you... Alec, what do you want?" Cody says as he comes up to me and Alec stopping next to me.
"Ava and I were just having a nice chat but I should really get out to Lexi before she freaks out on me."
"Okay then let's go, Princess." He puts his hand on the small of my back and leads me to the doors, I can smell a mix of emotions but I can't quite pick them out. When we get to his car we climb in and Cody lets out a sigh.
"You okay."
"Yeah I am fine why wouldn't I be."
"Well, when you came up to me and Alec you smelled weird or more your emotions."
"Wait what do you mean my emotions."
"Oh yeah, you don't know. I am able to sense or smell emotions of people along with normal smells."
"That's interesting but I am fine. Just out of curiosity what did you smell on me in the hallway?"
"I don't know really it was a mix of emotions."
"Okay is there anything else you can do that I don't know about?" the rest of the drive to the practice field I tell Cody all of what I can do and even which he mostly had already guessed. I also told him about my dream of the red wolf and the people watching it and how I think in the dream I was turning into the wolf.
"That seems like a warning or heads up," Cody says as we climb out of his car and start walking towards the locker rooms.
"That is basically what I thought."
"Okay so what does that mean why would your brain be showing this to you and why with everyone around."
"I have no clue but if you figure it out, by all means, let me know." We part ways to change before meeting up again to walk to the field for practice. Practice went longer than usual today to make up for not having it yesterday and the fact that we have a game on Thursday.
"So we have a few things to figure out," Cody states when we reach his car.
"What do you mean by that?"
"Well, you said that shifting in the room was the first time and you didn't think that was possible. So we have to figure out how it is possible and why it just started and also we have to figure out what your dream meant."
"Well, I could look through the research that my mum took with us see if that has anything and I could call Henry see what he thinks."
"Who's Henry?"
"The coworker of my dad's who helped my mum with me when my father was locked up. He also became my doctor since I can't go to a real one. And he is the one who synthesized the pills I take. He also basically became a second father to me."
"Wow, he sounds really smart."
"He is, so maybe he would be able to do something with the research he kept."
"Okay, so I say we, instead of studying this weekend, we look through the research and see what we can find."
"You don't have to help plus you need to do the tutoring."
"Not all the time plus we don't have any English homework this weekend."
"If you want to but my mom can't know what we are doing because she would not like the fact that you know so we say we are studying okay."
"Fine by me."
"Okay then this weekend we look through my father's work." we pull up to my house and I get out saying bye to Cody before heading inside. That night while doing my homework I couldn't help but think about the research and what we could find this weekend. And I figured out a way I could sneak it out from where mum has it without her seeing me do it.
The rest of the week went by normally and the game on Thursday was an easy win so I will spare you the details of how we crushed them 20 to 1. And in no time it was the day that Cody was coming over to look through the research with me while we pretend to Study.
"So this is all the research you have." Cody states as I show him the stack of papers I pulled out from under my bed.
"Yeah all of what we have here, you can start looking through it for anything mentioning a full shift into a wolf or anything about weird dreams or just something that sticks out to you."
"What are you going to do?"
"I am going to call Henry to see if he is willing to help."
"Alright." He plops onto my bed and starts looking through the papers as I pull out my phone and call Henry. I dial the number and the phone rings and rings and finally on the last ring I hear a voice answer the call.
"Hello."
"Henry."
"Ava?" he asks sounding unsure.
"Yeah it's me, I need you to do me a favor."
"What do you need?"
