"Well I don't know if mum would have already called but there has been a development in my situation."

"What do you mean Ava?"

"With my wolf, something happened."

"You didn't show the wolf did you?"

"NO! No that is not it, the thing is I shifted into a full wolf."

"A full wolf?"

"Yes, a wolf a real wolf with reddish fur like my hair."

"Okay, that is different and somewhat freaky."

"You're telling me I'm the one who turned into a wolf!"

"Right sorry."

"It's fine, but do you have any Ideas as to why this would happen anything in the research of my fathers that could explain this."

"I have no clue it has been a while since I have looked through it have it stored away."

"Could you take a look for me and call me back if you find anything."

"I'll see what I can do, but I have been busy lately so it might be a while."

"Okay just do what you can I have to go Talk to you later I guess."

"See you little wolf." I smile at his old nickname he gave me when I was a little girl.

"Bye Henry." I wait till the phone goes dead before hanging up on my end and turning to Cody.

"Anything," I ask hopefully.

"Not really half of this sounds like the ranting and raving of a crazy lunatic and the other half of an extremely smart person."

"Well, he was both so. Here let me see." I hop onto the bed next to him and look through the papers in his hands. While looking I see something that sounds interesting and I am not sure if it would give any answers but it was worth a try. So I snatch the paper from Cody's hand and read it closer.

"What does it say?" he asks looking over my shoulder.

'Give me a minute." I say as I read it over several times to make sure I had read it right the first time.

"Subject may possess qualities that are animalistic in more than I hope for, such as a natural desire to protect loved ones no matter the cost and a desire for the thrill of the hunt, among others I am not sure of quite yet. Note in the experiment with wolf blood and human blood after several months of the first introduction into the same host the wolf blood became greater than that of the human." I read the words that are written on the paper. I can't exactly tell what is written here there is a smudge of ink or something."

"Just try your best I think this is it."

"Also note that subject has a slight chance to... I can't see that word... in more ways than one not sure if it would become permanent over the years."I finish reading that section of notes and drop it onto my bed and take deep breaths trying to wrap my mind around what I read and what the smudged word could be.

"You okay?" Cody asks putting a hand on my shoulder.

"I don't know. But from the sound of what is written here it seems like the wolf blood will soon overpower and maybe that is what is allowing me to shift but if it says it could become greater than human doe that means I could get stuck as a wolf?"

"Well that would make sense I mean it says something about being permanent that could mean the wolf would be permanent."

"So I could get stuck as a wolf forever," I say my voice somber tears at the edges of my eyes wanting to come out but I won't let them I can't show that I am vulnerable and weak I need to be strong.

"No that is not going to happen because this is just the thoughts of your institutionalized father who experimented on his unborn daughter."

"Yeah but was right about the wolf blood affecting me so maybe he is right about this."

"No he can't be right I am not going to lose you to a wolf." he pulls me in and wraps his arms around me in a hug and we sit like that for what seems like an eternity which in reality was only a few short minutes.

After we let go of one another we sit back down on my bed and look through some more of my father's notes but find nothing more about why I can now shift into a wolf although there is a lot more to still go through. After a while, I hear a familiar sound and snap my head up from looking at the paper in my hands.

"What is it did you find something?"

"No but my mum just pulled into the driveway and she needs to think we have been studying all this time. Quickly grab the school books while I take care of this mess." I gesture to the papers scattered on the floor and the stack on my bed. He nods and we both get to our task in no time I get the papers shoved under my bed once again and am sitting on my bed next to Cody who just finished setting the books up to make it look like we were studying. Not too long after my mother appears in the doorway.

"Ava I... oh hi Cody forgot you were coming today. Ava as you can see I am home but I need to rush out I have a plane to catch in a few hours."

"What a plane where are you going?"

"My boss is giving me a promotion already and he wants me to go to a training thing for a week and it is out of state so he booked me round-trip plane tickets but the plane leaves in a few hours and I need to pack and then I will actually need you to drop me off so the car isn't left at the airport."

"Okay, mum do you need help packing I am sure Cody can handle some studying on his own for a few minutes."

"Oh thank you, dear, I am a little stressed out."

"I can tell. I will be back in a few." I say turning to Cody as I escort my mum out of my room and to hers to pack a few things for the week. In no time everything is packed and after having a quick something to eat I am driving to the airport. Once there I get out and help carry a few things to where my mum needs to be.

"Okay honey, here is a gas card for while I am gone and you have some money in case you decide to order anything or go anywhere. Just be good be careful you can have Bella stay over this weekend if it is okay with her parents but no boys staying over."

"Yeah, mum I've got it I am old enough to know these things I will be fine."

"Oh and it might not be the best idea to go for any runs just in case you turn into a wolf it could be easier to notice a wolf running around rather than a girl running fast."

"I got it mum." just then a voice comes on saying that the flight my mom is taking is now boarding so we quickly say our goodbyes before I watch her walk away before turning and heading back out to the car and driving home.
