So my friend Kenma changed their name and is now using they/them pronouns which is hype. I was all for it and i even helped them pick out a new name which they are currently testing out. I've been friends with Kenma for about a year now. It's been so easy for me switching over to their new name/pronouns.
But now, my friend Harry, who I've only known since September, has changed their name. Or at least, they're trying a new one out. They were already using they/them pronouns when I met them, so i was already used to that. They still had a feminine name when i met them. Now it's a more masculine name. Which is cool, i mean i'm calling them that now i'm not like "no i'm calling you [birth name]" but for some reason it's a lot harder to call them by their new name. I dont know why. I haven't even known them for that long. We are pretty good friends. Maybe it's because i've had a major crush on them and am so used to doodling their birth name in every note book. But that should mean anything. I don't know why it's so hard for me. I almost want to tell them not to change their name but I wont because if it makes them happy then what right do i have to rain on their parade? None. I have no right to do that. So i wont. I still feel like a bad person for thinking like this though..
