It was the last period of the day. I was in no rush, but Rae wasn't here today. She had texted me before school started, telling me to come by her house after school for some reason. So I guess when the lecture was over I would go.
It was about half way through the period when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around to face Michael, sitting in the chair behind me and staring at me. He was leaned back, hands gathered behind his head as he spoke to me.
"So this Calum kid, huh?" He says. I didn't understand what he meant, but I replied anyway.
"Uh, yeah.. What about him?" I say confused.
"He likes Harley, didn't you say?" He asks. I don't ever remember telling anybody about Calum's small feelings for Harley, except Rae.
"Um, I don't know actually." I lie. Calum never blurted out about his interest toward Harley? but I could tell by the way his smirk grew every time I mentioned her that he had developed quite the crush on the girl.
"You do know, so why would you lie?" He says, twirling his pencil between his finger repetitively. He looked frustrated.
"I don't know man, sorry." I say back. I watch as Michael drops his pencil next to his unopened notebook, beginning to pop his knuckles one by one.
I turn back around, sort of frightened by the boy. I always thought that Michael and Harley were quite cute together, actually. They both clung to each other, perfectly fitting into each other's needs all the time. I didn't think that Calum would've ever actually thought about Harley that way. I didn't exactly want Michael to beat his ass either. He seemed very protective over Harley, so I guess I'd have to talk to Calum about it next time I saw him.
When the period filled with loud annoying kids and Michael throwing paper balls at my head ended, I silently rushed into the hallways to gather the bag from my locker. I was eager to see Rae and find out why she wasn't here today. I hope she isn't sick.
I quickly slung the bag over my shoulder, dying to get to Rae's house quickly as possible. The kids shoved my shoulders multiple times as I tried to run through them. By the time I was out the door I was ready to get to her and see what was going on.
_
It only took me about twenty minutes to run to Rae's house. When I reached the houses around hers, I slowed down. I didn't want to break a sweat in front of her. I was breathless and hot by the time I reached her stairs.
As I was slowly walking up her front stairs to her porch with low energy left, all of a sudden the door swings open. It slings to the back of the wall all the way, and what comes out of it surprises me.
The blue eyed, blonde haired boy I had come to despise paces out of the door quickly, looking as if he was in a rush. He was obviously angry. His eyebrows were pushed up and he looked like he had gotten throw out. He walk with his black leather jacket in his right hand and his phone in the other, walking right past me. He bumped my shoulder and made evil eyes at me.
"Fuck off, Irwin." He says as he continues walking down the driveway.
I stare as Luke makes his way down the street. I was shocked at Luke returning to Rae's house. I knew Rae hated Luke for all the things he's done, including being the asshole he is in general, so why would she let him inside in the first place?
I finally gain the courage to knock on Rae's door, finally to be greeted with her father once again.
"Rae! Your little boyfriend is here!" He yells up the stairs, again taking another bite of his left over burger. I heard fumbling around from the top of the stairs, and in came a confused Rae, and also an unhappy Rae.
